Nearly 30 years from the Belfast Agreement, Labour is allowing our ageing veterans to be dragged before the courts for defending Britain. Without these men there would have been no peace process - the terrorists would have triumphed. Starmer is betraying them.

28 years ago today, the Good Friday Agreement was signed, one of Labour’s proudest achievements. Working in Northern Ireland, I saw first-hand the transformation peace brought to communities. At a time of global instability, it reminds us that peace must be built and protected.

If Keir Starmer’s Chagos surrender now finds its rightful place - on the ash heap of history - it will be because Conservatives led the fight against it from day one. That it took so long is another damning indictment of a prime minister, who fought to hand over British sovereign territory and pay £35 billion to use a crucial military base which was already ours. Unlike Labour, we will always put our country first. We are the only party who can be trusted to stand up for Britain’s interests abroad.

EXCLUSIVE Sir Keir Starmer has been forced to drop legislation which would cede sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius in a further deterioration of relations with Donald Trump The Times has been told that a bill underpinning the controversial deal will not be included in the King's Speech next month after the US president branded it an "act of great stupidity" and withdrew his support The government stands by the deal and will attempt to persuade Trump to change his mind but has acknowledged that it cannot proceed without his backing Ministers are "deeply frustrated" with Trump, who initially supported the deal after extensive discussions between intelligence agencies but changed his mind during a dispute with Nato over plans to seize Greenland The government believes that it puts the future of Diego Garcia, the UK-US base in the islands which has been used during the Iran war, at risk It is concerned that Mauritius will mount a legal challenge granting it access to the waters around Diego Garcia, making it harder for the base to host nuclear submarines and patrol surrounding waters The deal was highly contentious. It would have seen Britain hand over the islands to Mauritius before immediately entering into a 99-year lease for Diego Garcia. Too many towns and villages have had to accept criminality in their communities because each attempt to deal with illegal traveller sites has fallen foul of the ECHR. The @Conservatives will take back our streets and green spaces, leave the ECHR, and get Britain working again.

Doctors are on strike today for the 15th time since 2023, costing us £3bn in the last 3 years. Starmer promised to sort it, even gave them a 28% pay rise...it didn't work. Time for serious action. The @Conservatives will ban doctors' strikes, like we do for the army and police.

Looks like Labour are U-turning on Jackdaw FINALLY. After weeks of pressure from us, Miliband is backing down. That’s what happens when @Conservatives force Labour to act. But one licence isn’t enough. We should be drilling, cutting bills and securing our own energy. Scrap the windfall tax, axe VAT on energy and ditch the carbon tax. Our Cheap Power Plan would save families £200. Only Conservatives have a plan to get Britain working again.

A reminder of how short-term vote chasing cost us dear. Lib Dem Deputy PM Clegg blocked new nuclear, arguing it would not be ready until 2021/22. Just imagine how helpful it would have been to have major nuclear power stations switching on just as Putin attacked Ukraine.
