UPDATE: No fewer than 17 members of the House of Representatives defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), with their movement formally announced during plenary today, 5th May 2026. In a separate move, Hon. Leke Abejide defected from the ADC to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The lawmakers who joined the NDC include Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande, Munachim Umezuruike, Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene, Murphy Omoruyi, and Abdulhakeem Ado. BREAKING NEWS: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its timetable for the conduct of its 2026 primary elections, fixing May 25, 2026, for its Presidential primary and pegging its nomination form at N100 million, Governorship forms N50 million, Senate N20 million, House of Representatives N10 million, and State House of Assembly N3 million; with discounted forms for youths, women, and PWDs ahead of the 2027 elections. Primary elections for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats are scheduled to hold simultaneously at the ward level on May 21, 2026.
