Most cash game players misplay against short stacks. They overvalue speculative hands, ignore SPR, and bluff too often pre and postflop. In this week’s podcast, I break down the key adjustments to make vs 30-40bb stacks. smartpokerstudy.com/pod596

Daily Poker Thought: Respect the sample size. 75% (3/4) = interesting 75% (6/8) = getting useful 75% (30/40) = now it really matters Small samples can deceive. One weird session can distort everything. Before trusting a stat, ask: “What’s the sample size?” Percentages matter, Samples make them useful.

Daily Poker Thought: Stats are tools, not answers. One number ≠ full story. Traps: “High Fold to Cbet” >>> Auto-bluff “Low 3bet” >>> Auto-respect “High Aggression” >>> Auto-call “Low WTSD” >>> Auto-barrel Context matters. Combine stats with: Position, sizing, ranges, board, timing, history. If the stat and their actions conflict, think deeper. Don’t play on autopilot.

Daily Poker Thought: Bet sizing is information. Big bets often mean strength. Tiny bets often mean weakness. Sudden sizing changes = emotional leaks. Sometimes bet size tells you more than stats. Learn to listen.

Daily Poker Action: Plan Your Turn Barrels Before you cbet bluff the flop, ask: "What turn cards add equity and help me keep attacking?" Helpful cards: Top/2nd pair Flush draws Straight draws Combo draws More equity = more barrels = more folds. Don’t bluff the flop and hope. Bluff with a turn barreling plan.
