The introduction of India’s first hydrogen-powered train is an important milestone in our journey towards sustainable transportation. Beyond showcasing cutting-edge technology, it reflects the commitment to building the systems and capabilities required for hydrogen-powered mobility at scale. Guided by the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi, this initiative reinforces India’s commitment to building a cleaner, more self-reliant and future-ready transport ecosystem. Clean energy transitions demand vision, investment and collaboration across sectors. With initiatives like these, India continues to strengthen the foundations for a transport ecosystem that is efficient, resilient and aligned with our long-term climate goals.

India flagged off its first hydrogen-powered train today, from Jind to Sonipat, built entirely at home and carrying close to 2,600 people on nothing but hydrogen. It leaves behind only water vapour. Having spent years in the energy business, I can tell you this is not a small thing. Clean power moving people at this scale, and made in India, is exactly the direction we should be going. My congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi ji, whose vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat made this possible, and to the engineers at Indian Railways who built it.
