There are no cases of measles in Mississippi at this time, but with outbreaks occurring in other states, it’s important to stay informed. The best way to prevent measles is by ensuring you and your family are up to date on the MMR vaccine. Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest cancer in the United States. What people may not know is that regular diagnostic screenings can help detect precancerous growth or colorectal cancer so that it can be treated early and effectively. In honor of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March, St. Dominic’s is highlighting the importance of colorectal cancer risks and screening with the display of the American Cancer Society’s Super Colon inside the Dominican Plaza lobby on Tuesday, March 4 from 11 am – 1 pm. This giant inflatable colon shows what a provider is looking for during a colonoscopy with visual representations of what healthy tissue looks like compared to other tissues like cancerous cells, polyps and more. Information about colorectal health and screening will be available, and a local colon cancer survivor will be present to share the story of her treatment journey and the importance of early detection. St. Dominic’s team members and the community are invited to attend. Learn more about St. Dominic Comprehensive Cancer Program at stdom.com/CancerCare

Meet the dedicated teams at St. Dominic's who make our theranostic program possible, offering cutting-edge treatments like Lutathera and Pluvicto to our patients – St. Dominic’s Outpatient Infusion and Nuclear Medicine. Lutathera is a targeted therapy used to treat neuroendocrine tumors, slowing their growth or, in some cases, halting it altogether, based on the latest research. Pluvicto, on the other hand, is a breakthrough treatment for metastatic prostate cancer, offering new hope for patients with advanced stages of the disease. Both therapies also help manage symptoms associated with these conditions. Because these treatments require specialized facilities and expertise, access can be limited. We're proud that our collaborative teams at St. Dominic’s are expanding access to these life-changing therapies, bringing hope to those we serve. Learn more about St. Dominic Comprehensive Cancer Program at bit.ly/417wywM. See research on Lutathera: bit.ly/4hZjKPW. See research on Pluvicto: bit.ly/417uCUQ

St. Dominic's Comprehensive Cancer team recently held a special blessing and demonstration of the program's newest equipment which provides advanced imaging for all diagnoses and includes motion management for treating breast and lung cancer patients more effectively while minimizing damage to healthy tissues. This motion management allows breathing around the tumors to be monitored to verify that the treatment stays within the treatment area for the external beam. The new CT simulator at St. Dominic Cancer Center allows the team to simplify routine imaging and treatment planning steps while enhancing the radiation therapy workflow. Learn more about the resources available with St. Dominic's Comprehensive Cancer Program at stdom.com/CancerCare.
