I had the pleasure of attending the Mariachi Plazul Summer Performance this afternoon at Steele HS—and what an incredible showcase of talent, culture, and student growth! 🎻🎶 This performance highlighted the amazing students who participated in our Mariachi Summer Camp, and from junior high to high school, every group brought such heart to the stage. Opportunities like this allow students to build confidence, connect with tradition, and thrive in their musical journey. Congratulations to Rubina Sanchez, lead counselor and recruiting coordinator at Byron P. Steele High School. She was named the H-E-B Secondary Counselor of the Year at the Excellence in Education Awards program this evening in Austin.

Sanchez will be awarded $10,000, with an additional $15,000 going to Steele HS. Sanchez took a moment during her acceptance speech to thank the legendary grocery chain for its unwavering support for education throughout the state. #WeAreSCUC #YouBelongHere
