Feeling a bit verklempt to be honored with the 2026 Breslau/Murphy Award from @APPAassociation. It’s hard to overstate how much an award like this means to me. I love science, and training the next generation of scientists isn’t part of the job, it IS the job.

Neurotechnology is bottlenecked by systems, not science. Cochlear implants, deep brain stimulation, and neurostimulators have restored function for hundreds of thousands of patients and have collectively generated billions in annual reimbursements. PL Neuro is sharing a roadmap series focused on answering the question: where does coordination compress timelines the most? The first roadmap describes how the neurotech field can get to $100B+ — and faster. The question isn’t if neurotech will change the future of human health, it’s how quickly. So far, the biggest constraint isn’t FDA approval, it’s what comes after: there’s a multi-year gap between “safe & effective” (FDA) and “paid for” (CMS). This commercial valley of death delays: -Patient access -Company survival -Capital formation -Field-wide progress If we fix time-to-revenue, we can unlock: -Institutional capital at scale -Faster clinical adoption -The path to consumer neurotech Clinical revenue is the acceleration layer. This roadmap proposes a different approach: Not company-by-company progress, but coordinated, ecosystem-level infrastructure. 1. Close the FDA–CMS gap (<12 months) 2. Build shared CPT code frameworks 3. Create an “orphan implant” backstop 4. Align policy, capital, and clinical incentives Neurotech is entering a platform era. The devices are no longer static, they are adaptive, software-defined systems. Our regulatory and reimbursement systems need to catch up. The next decade won’t be won by individual companies. It will be won by an ecosystem that moves fast together.

What an incredible evening 🎶 Thank you, @onemindorg, for a meaningful night about music and mental health. Music is such a powerful tool for healing!

One Mind@OneMindOrg

On March 23, an extraordinary community of artists, scientists, advocates, & supporters gathered at Jazz at Lincoln Center (@jazzdotorg) in NYC for Apollo & Psyche, an evening celebrating the powerful connection between music & mental health. From an exhilarating opening selection of Beethoven’s “Sonata in C Major” played by Artistic Director @ElaineKwon to a powerful closing with “Livin’ On a Prayer” by GRAMMY-Award winning songwriter @DesmondChild, every note, every performance, every person in the room contributed to something bigger: a collective commitment to improving mental health for all. The evening also served as an opportunity for One Mind to recognize Bristol Myers Squibb (@bmsnews) for their leadership & partnership in advancing mental health. We're extremely grateful to every artist, supporter, & attendee who made the evening so meaningful. Together, we will continue to create meaningful change, making strides towards the world we envision: healthy minds for all. ➡️ Read more about the event: onemind.org/news/one-mind-… #MentalHealthMatters #ApolloAndPsyche #OneMind #EndTheStigma #MentalHealthAwareness #ArtAndScience #StrongerTogether

The requested boost would help counter the planned sunsetting of one of the program’s long-standing funding streams, which will result in a $195 million drop in funding for fiscal year 2027. By @avaskham thetransmitter.org/funding/letter…

Neurotechnology is one of the defining opportunities of this century. We’re already seeing the potential to restore function, treat disease, and eventually expand human capability. It’s no longer speculative. Now, the question is how fast can it translate into real products, real companies, and real patient impact. PL Neuro is sharing a roadmap series for that future. Safe, high-fidelity neural interfaces have been substantially de-risked. So the bottleneck is shifting from science to systems. What’s slowing the field now? - regulatory lag - reimbursement gaps - capital constraints - public trust In other words: structural friction. Today, each company is forced to navigate these barriers alone. Neurotech needs shared infrastructure: a Neurotech Commons. This roadmap series is a strategic briefing focused on one question: Where does coordination compress timelines the most? Four core bottlenecks: 1. Path to clinical revenue 2. Transition to consumer 3. Public narrative & trust 4. Capital formation Taken together, these roadmaps make one argument: the arrival of neurotechnology is inevitable. But the timeline is not and timelines matter for patients, for science, for society. This series is a starting point for deeper collaboration across the field. If you’re building, researching, investing in, or shaping neurotechnology policy, please share your feedback.

Scientists and educators are concerned about students using AI to shortcut their learning. But there are also opportunities, especially when it comes to teaching neuroscience students how to code, writes @analog_ashley. thetransmitter.org/how-to-teach-t…
