Thomson wasn't perfect. He had his flaws. But the manager that lead this team to a .568 winning percentage over the last four regular seasons was failed by roster construction and lack of player execution.

Crazy how this team has 3 potentially great cleanup hitters in this lineup and none of them refuse to bat any higher than 3 all year.
Maybe, just maybe why they are so wildly inconsistent has everything to do with your 3 most productive hitters refusing to move down in the order to help lengthen it.

Don Mattingly said his “not managing again” comments at the beginning of the year had part to do with not wanting anyone to think he was trying to come in here and take Rob Thomson’s job, or make anything uncomfortable.
