It feels less like a ceiling — and more like a veil of stone suspended overhead. This is the Henry VII Lady Chapel at Westminster Abbey, begun in 1503 and consecrated in 1516. One of the great masterpieces of English Perpendicular Gothic architecture, the chapel is famous for its extraordinary fan-vaulted roof, where carved stone ribs spread outward like lace and hang in delicate pendants above the space. 📸 @ gothic_architecture_etc (IG)

The Abbey Church of the Holy Cross with St Edburgha at Pershore in Worcestershire. Most of the present building dates from the C11th to C13th, while the lantern tower dates from 1330. 📸 My own. #SteepleSaturday #Pershore #Worcestershire
