Please, if you’re an African founder, you need to start effortlessly labeling provinces in Many African Countries. It has become important in how you get funded. 🙌 Oh, might I add, answer trivia questions well too. You’re welcome.

I was the first investor in Aubrey's company, a bit over a year ago. When you talk to him and spend time with him, its clear he's insanely intelligent. I watched him effortlessly label the provinces in many African countries and answer trivia questions about esoteric topics like its nothing. This is very rare behavior.

@Akintola_steve Are these engineers working for the same company? I am curious how a company based in Nigeria, servicing Nigerians, with the Nigerian spending power far below the German, to pay foreign wages. Not to also add how much more the Nigerian company spends to maintain reliability.

A Nigerian software engineer and a German software engineer push the same code to production tonight. Same stack. Same PR review. Same 2am. One of them earns €7,000/month with free healthcare, job protection laws, and a pension that kicks in at 30. The other earns ₦600,000 and just spent ₦47,000 on generator fuel this month alone. We need to talk about this.

Africa is not one country… yen yen yen. your company name is “Something Africa” and you’re “building the X for Africa.” Pick a struggle already.

@asemota Totally agree. Vibe coding =/= Inventions... but could be a great tool for quick prototyping and idea validation without years and $$ in commitments. AI has helped me with validating ideas in isolation without committing our engineers to another merry go round project😅

The reason we haven't seen major platforms built largely with AI and very small teams yet is that people are currently vibe coding their fantasies rather than the market's needs. The most useful agents are those ordinary people would interact with because they provide real value. Customer value is what serious tech companies monetize directly or indirectly, it is not fantasies of the builders.

Nobody really knew this about me but I used to be very shy. Not even the calm type of shy. The kind that makes you hold yourself back, even when you know you have something in you. I didn’t put myself out there. I didn’t speak up. I didn’t even fully understand what I was doing with my life. I was just there, trying to figure things out quietly. And it used to feel like everyone else had direction. Like everyone knew where they were going. Except me. I had ideas. I had things I wanted to do. But I didn’t trust myself enough to actually try. So I stayed in my comfort zone, even though it wasn’t even comfortable. At some point, I just got tired of that version of me. Tired of overthinking. Tired of waiting. Tired of feeling stuck in my own head. So I started doing something small but scary for me. I began to step out. I started talking to people. Putting myself in places I wouldn’t normally go.
Showing up, even when I didn’t feel ready. And I won’t lie, it felt awkward at first. There were moments I felt like I didn’t belong. Moments I questioned myself. But I kept going. And that decision, changed a lot for me. I started meeting people that inspired me.
People that made me see things differently. And somewhere in all of that… I also started becoming someone I’m proud of. Then one day, someone said,
“I look up to you.” I don’t think they understand what that meant to me. Because I remember who I used to be. I remember how unsure I was. How much I doubted myself. How small I used to play. So if you’re in that place right now… Feeling shy.
Feeling confused.
Feeling like you’re not ready yet… I get it. But please, don’t stay there forever. Start small. Step out. Even if your voice shakes. Because your life can actually change just from deciding to show up differently. Babaala nobody can tell me again
 there’s anywhere I cannot get to❤️

I have hope in the Nigerian startup space again. Not everyone has left. Seen some interesting new startups that can do wonders, but are struggling to take off and need a lot of help.

@tayoainafilms The reason why platforms take cut for every transaction is because banks and payment processors also charge them per transaction. Interesting to know if you’ve modeled the per transaction cost from your processor into the product pricing. Great product btw and good luck!

• A full scholarship deadline calendar covering 29 countries • A visa and document checklist for applicants from countries like Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya There’s no paywall and no upsell, because the biggest barrier for many talented students isn’t ability. It’s information.
