We must not allow Kainji Lake National park to be the next Sambisa.
This park is larger than some Nigerian states. It hugs the Benin border and sits right next to the Kainji dam. Intel reports suggests armed groups with links to JNIM are now relocating to the Kainji corridor and setting up camps.
Sahelian terrorist groups, most notably JNIM are pushing southward into coastal West Africa via the region’s vast and poorly secured national parks. They have taken control of large parts of Pendjari National Park, which straddles Benin, Niger, and Burkina Faso and turned into a rear operating base where they stockpile weapons and launch cross border attacks into Benin.
Just across the border inside Nigeria sits Kainji Lake, another Park anchored in the exact same forest corridor. It is vast, largely under guarded, and vulnerable to the same kind of militant infiltration.
The pattern is already becoming alarming. In 2025, when about 200 people were kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State, the attackers moved the victims straight into the Kainji forest.
Then again in January 2026, residents of Damaa village were killed, and once more the attackers retreated back into the same Kainji forest. These are not isolated incidents. We are seeing a clear and disturbing pattern.

Gunmen killed about 30 people in Jos, and the state government imposed a 48-hour curfew. Yet the President did not invite the Plateau governor for an urgent meeting.
Less than 24 hours after Kwankwaso joined the ADC, he is reportedly meeting with the Ganduje and Badaru. That should tell you where his priorities lie.
He appears more concerned about his political future than the insecurity affecting ordinary Nigerians.

Kudos to the Christian communities of Tina, Furaka and Bauchi Ring road in Jos North LGA.
Last night, the peace loving Christian samaritans of these communities rescued more than ten Muslims which they handed them to Dutse Uku Muslim community leaders.
May God Almighty shame the agents of doom among us. May peace prevail.
