The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President, Hussein Mohammed has been suspended over allegations of financial impropriety involving Ksh42 million linked to the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The decision was reached on April 24 during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which also ordered Acting CEO Dennis Gicheru step aside pending investigations. In a sweeping resolution, the NEC directed FKF Deputy President McDonald Mariga to immediately take over as Acting President. Speaking at the EAAACA conference at KICC, he said corruption is draining trillions that should fund development and job creation. “Corruption is not just a governance issue, it is a barrier to economic transformation.” Leaders from across the region attended, calling for stronger transparency and accountability. #Kenya #Corruption #Governance #EACC #EastAfrica

Africa’s fuel vulnerability is under fresh scrutiny as the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) warns of a looming 86 million tonne fuel shortfall by 2040. At a Nairobi summit, Aliko Dangote pledged to build a major East African refinery similar to his in Nigeria if backed by William Ruto and Yoweri Museveni. MPs are raising red flags over proposed music and audio-visual tariffs set for 2026–2028, warning they could face legal challenges and increase the cost of doing business for Kenyans. The National Assembly’s Committee on Delegated Legislation, chaired by Ainabkoi MP Samuel Chepkonga, has questioned whether the new rules meet public participation standards especially after a 2025 High Court ruling struck down similar tariffs. #Kenya #Parliament #CreativeEconomy #MusicIndustry #CostOfLiving

Interior Cabinet Secretary Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, and Gatundu North MP Elijah Kururia have been drawn into a high-stakes Ksh20 billion land dispute in Runda, Kiambu County. The controversy centers on a sprawling 300-acre parcel of land that hosts the popular recreational site Paradise Lost, now at the heart of a prolonged ownership battle. According to reports in local dailies, the dispute stems from a long-running conflict within the Mbugua family over ownership and control of the valuable land. The property, strategically located in Runda, is estimated to be worth approximately Ksh20 billion. The report alleges that the three leaders—Murkomen, Sudi, and Kururia—have been implicated in claims of shielding individuals accused of invading the land. #Murkomen #OscarSudi #ElijahKururia
