Hon'ble CM @OmarAbdullah Sir; @CM_JnK Hostel Meant for Kashmiri Students at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi Occupied by Outsiders Amid Accommodation Crisis. Hundreds of Kashmiri students studying at Jamia Millia are facing severe difficulties in securing on-campus accommodation, despite the existence of a dedicated hostel built specifically for them. Every year, a significant number of students from Jammu and Kashmir enroll in the Jamia Millia university for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. However, securing a safe and affordable place to stay remains a major challenge for them. Despite their academic achievements, students often face significant challenges in finding rented accommodation. They are frequently denied flats or houses due to various issues, and those applying on-campus accommodation are often denied entry. To overcome these challenges, a dedicated hostel for students from Jammu & Kashmir was envisioned in 2012. An agreement regarding this project was signed between the Ministry of Home Affairs, the then state government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sb., and Jamia Millia Islamia. The project, valued at ₹16.22 crore, was designed to provide hostel accommodation for 700 Kashmiri students. To those who believe that the issue remains unaddressed in a satisfactory manner: I stand by my commitment. Tomorrow, I will join the people in a peaceful and dignified attempt to demand answers on their issues from the government.
