6600 blk 52nd AvCt W, May 1, 9:43am - TFD Engine 7 crew intercepted a call to animal control reporting ducklings in a storm drain. E7 was nearby & raced to the scene. Crew saw a distressed duck standing over storm drain. 12 ducklings rescued. No injuries. Successful reunification

S 70th St & S Fife St, 8:46am - TFD responded to a 2-car accident at this intersection. Minor injuries reported. Please use caution in the area while TFD clears the scene and @TacomaPD investigates the cause of the accident.

5800 blk S Montgomery St, 5:21pm - TFD responded to a house fire. Crews arrived, saw smoke coming from the home, checked for occupants & had the fire under control within 7 minutes. Homeowner was evaluated for minor injuries on scene, but not transported. 1 dog died in the fire.

@TacomaPD is investigating the incident. Tacoma Police will send out a media release once they have more information on the moments leading up to and causing the incident.

All patients are now in stable condition.

Foss High School, 1:35pm - At 1:35pm, @TacomaPD responded to reports of an active assault. At 1:38pm, Tacoma Fire responded to treat & transport 6 patients. 4 patients in critical condition, 1 adult with minor injuries, 1 possible suspect with minor injuries.

Scene is secure. Parents can pick up their students at the student parking lot.

3200 blk 53rd Pl NE, 5:35am - House fire. Heavy smoke & flames showing upon TFD’s arrival. All occupants escaped the blaze. Fire is now out. One person transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. One dog still missing. Fire is under investigation.

Fire appears to have started outside on a 2nd floor deck. Fire burned up the side of the home before spreading into the 2nd floor and attic. Exact cause is undetermined, but likely originated from smoking materials not completely extinguished.

@TacomaPD 4 residents displaced from a total of 3 damaged units. No other injuries reported. TFD will keep crews on scene to make sure the fire doesn’t rekindle. All other units in the building are being reoccupied. Investigation is underway.

Fire is out. Crews are still on scene watching for hot spots. @TacomaPD will remain on scene to investigate further.

1200 blk N Pearl St, 7:51am - TFD responded to reports of a fire in an apartment complex. Upon arrival, crews began searching for the source of the fire and evacuating building residents. TFD is still attacking the fire. One occupant is deceased. More to follow.

2100 blk S. C St, 11:56am - TFD’s tech rescue team responded to a vehicle dangling over a 20’ concrete embankment over a parking lot. Crews stabilized the car & rescued the occupant. No injuries reported. @TacomaPD is investigating the cause.

TFD crews lowered themselves to the patient & then lowered the patient to the beach. TFD’s Fireboat Defiance crew collected the patient and took them to meet an ambulance. We then transported the patient to a local hospital.

Point Defiance Park, Dalco Passage Overlook, 2:03pm - TFD’s Tech Rescue team conducted a rope rescue to reach a person who fell off the cliffs in the park. The patient sustained a minor injury preventing them from climbing back up.

Fire was intentionally set, and @TacomaPD arrested one suspect for arson.

1200 S 11th St, 1:12am - TFD responded to calls for an apartment fire. Crews found a large garbage pile burning outside the front door of an apt. Fire burned the exterior of the building, and smoke filled the unit. Crews pulled one resident out of bldg & treated them on scene.

1400 blk E 32nd St, 7pm - TFD responded to multiple calls for a fire behind a house. When crews arrived, an RV parked behind the home was on fire. Crews worked hard to protect the home & successfully kept the fire contained to the RV. No injuries. Fire is under investigation.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury while fighting this fire. Fire is under investigation.

800 blk N Fife St, 11:35am - TFD responded to a house fire that was spreading to shed in the backyard. Crews arrived to flames & heavy smoke from home. Added 2 extra engine companies to protect neighbors’ homes & kept fire contained to single property. Residents not home at time.
