God, these Black men aren’t growing old. I want so much more for my people. This is heartbreaking.

i require gentleness in this season. care, kindness, and consideration. genuineness, honesty, and upliftment. warmth, grace, and affection. in the midst of many transitions, softness is the support i need right now.

i wasted a lot of energy over the years staying in spaces where i thought, if i could just show to this person or these people my light and my heart and value, they’d reciprocate the energy. lesson: your worth is not predicated on whether or not others can recognize it in you.

The idea that anything that is meant for you will be taken if you listen to your body and rest/slow down, is such a toxic myth. It’s not true. We must trust ourselves and our gifts and Ancestors to make space for our gifts.

showing more patience for what hasn’t come yet, showing more gratitude to what has already arrived. finding more grace in the mistakes i made in the past, finding even more softness in the ones i am yet to make.

Those men were at the constitutional convention on stolen land writing about "freedom" while eating meals prepared by the human beings they owned. Some chewed and swallowed that food with teeth stolen from someone else's mouth. And we were taught in school to call them "fathers."

Our elders have lived way too long & have overcome way too much to be racially executed at the grocery store. My heart is heavy & my soul is disturbed.
