Baking Cookies with Our Young Achievers! A few weeks ago, we stirred up a conversation with our 11-15 age group about what they’d love to learn to bake. Without hesitation, cookies were the top choice✨! The excitement was evident as they eagerly shared their favourite flavours, textures, and even funny stories about baking attempts at home. Last Friday✅, during our youth club, that excitement came to life! The young people were completely immersed in the process - rolling the cookie dough into balls, flattening them out, and peering through the oven glass as they watched their creations rise, turn golden, and set. The room was warm, filled with laughter and the sweet fragrance of cookies. Some confidently joked about baking without even reading the recipe, while others carefully checked the water measurements and mixing consistency. When the cookies were finally ready, they admired their work with pride, enjoying every bite of their homemade treats. Sometimes, there’s something comforting about dough in our hands - it creates a natural flow of conversation, sparking topics they might not have discussed otherwise. These small, shared moments leave lasting impressions, bringing young people closer together. Baking creates connection, teamwork, and creating memories✨. At Touch of Love, we know that giving young people a fun, hands-on baking experience gives them a quiet sense of competence that can spark curiosity and confidence in the kitchen and beyond. After all, cooking is a basic life skill - being comfortable enough to pull a few ingredients together into a simple meal makes a world of difference.
