@fordnation says he supports law-abiding hunters. Good. Now he needs to prove it and block Ottawa's gun grab in Ontario. @noahrjarvis

Alberta premier’s office bragging about imposing $130/tonne carbon tax on Albertans. (Also headline number is not the same as the actual tax paid, which I’m assuming the premier’s office knows). The carbon tax hike is a certainty. The pipeline is maybe.
Erin Allin@erin_allin

No. Before negotiating with Alberta the industrial carbon price was set to increase to $170 per tonne by 2030. Alberta’s negotiations reduced it to $130 by 2035, giving industry certainty and saving them $250 billion in compliance costs.

Carney: Before negotiating with the Alberta government the industrial carbon tax was $20/tonne. Now, Carney says it will be “six and a half times that price” by 2040. Brace for big industrial carbon tax hikes.

The carbon tax hike is a certainty, a pipeline is a maybe. That’s the key takeaway from the Alberta-federal agreement. Albertans will pay big industrial carbon taxes while Carney pinky promises he may one day approve a pipeline.

🚨 BREAKING Canada’s Finance Minister paid $12,168 for an outside contractor to write his budget speech. Canada’s Finance Minister has: -A press secretary -A communications director -A communications manager -4 communications officers -5 communications advisors -4 correspondence strategists -4 correspondence analysts And an actual employee with the job title “Legislative Speech Writer.” 23 people! $2 million in salaries He still paid $12,000 to an outside contractor to write his budget speech. The Canadian Taxpayer Federation correctly pointed out that Winston Churchill wrote his own speeches while fighting the Nazis. Champagne couldn’t write one while running a $67 billion deficit. $200 per minute. While Canada borrowed $7.6 million during the hour it took to deliver it.

CBC wasted $59,000 on legal bills going to court to keep its Gem subscriber numbers hidden. CBC takes $1 billion from taxpayers every year. The least they owe you is transparency. But CBC is wasting more of your money going to court to keep you in the dark.

CBC is spending $59,000 on legal bills going to court to keep its Gem subscriber numbers hidden from Canadians. Information Commissioner ordered CBC to release the records. But CBC is wasting thousands more to keep those records a secret. Defund the CBC.

Carbon taxes don't cut emissions. They cut Canadian jobs. "An incredibly complicated policy framework that makes investments in Canada difficult and non-competitive with other countries, like the U.S. and countries in Asia. "We're really left with what I think is a hollowed-out industry."

Federal budget promises to cut spending on consultants, but finance minister spent $12,000 contracting out his own budget speech. Why are we paying for all those comms staffers if they can't write their own budget speech? Here’s a free way for the finance department to save money on contractors: write your own speeches! edmontonsun.com/news/national/…

On the day Carney signed the MOU he said "it means more than a six times increase in the industrial price on carbon." Is that still true for what's being announced this week?
