Had a solid session with @GodzinskiPiotr from @Techstars yesterday on fundraising. One thing I didn't expect him to say, most failed rounds aren't because the business is bad. It's just bad strategy. Wrong investors, wrong timing, not qualifying who you're actually talking to. Loads of founders (including me) just go wide and hope for the best. Apparently that's one of the fastest ways to kill your chances. Grateful for the honesty Piotr, exactly what I needed to hear right now. 🙏

Scout Space (Techstars 2021), a leader in space domain awareness (SDA) sensors and software, raised $18M in Series A. 🔭 Scout builds platform-agnostic systems that combine optical payloads, edge processing, and autonomy to detect, track, and characterize objects in orbit across both commercial and national security missions. The funding will support upcoming mission execution and the buildout of a new 2,600-square-foot production facility in Northern Virginia. Scout is currently working with Blue Origin to integrate its Owl sensor on the inaugural Blue Ring mission, and has received multiple Tactical Funding Increase awards from the U.S. Space Force. CopilotKit (Techstars 2023), a startup building the open standard for how AI agents communicate with software, has raised $27M. Founded by brothers Atai Barkai and Uli Barkai, CopilotKit created AG-UI (Agent-User Interaction) a protocol that lets AI agents generate interactive charts, update dashboards, and take actions inside existing applications. 🤖 Companies including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Oracle have adopted the protocol, and more than half of the Fortune 500 use its tools. CopilotKit's core technology is open source, with more than 40,000 GitHub stars and millions of installs per week. The $27M raise, comprising a $20M Series A and a $7M seed round, was led by Glilot Capital, NFX, and SignalFire.
