HR Derby is a major event on Monday, and Futures Game doesn't really fit even as an appetizer...MLB teams work out on field before the HR Derby. Tuesday? Not a chance. Red carpet event + also nothing else is going on before the main event.

I follow this logic, but there is not actually an easy answer to this. The other "logical" approach is to play it on Wednesday, but if you think of All-Star Games as ramping up to a crescendo, a Wednesday Futures Game after the ASG doesn't exactly do that (even for me).

Stray realignment thought today: If I'm the Pac-12, I'm calling DBU. That's not solving the most pressing issues (football, hoops minimums), but any conference that has Oregon State has a strong baseball base and I'd be looking to build on that. And we know the Beavers care deeply about having a strong environment for their baseball program. I think the simplest possible upgrade on the diamond is to go get DBU, given the program's strength and the school's unique baseball focus. And if the new Pac is looking to get into Texas anyway, DBU dovetails with that strategy. Travel would probably be tougher for DBU in the Pac vs. CUSA, but the Patriots already have to travel as far as Fort Lauderdale and Lynchburg. The PNW is farther, but it's not like DBU is now in a conference of bus trips. And getting into a league with Oregon State feels like it would be worth it for them, particularly if the AAC or MWC start eyeing CUSA schools.

Amazing that Skip caused the surprise of the Gatorade dump to be spoiled.

Whether or not they're good, they clearly lack the ability and the tools to diffuse situations. And that's a serious problem. There is no trust on either side of the equation
