March 31 holiday to be renamed We are devastated to learn of the allegations of sexual abuse by Cesar Chavez. We stand with those who have suffered sexual abuse and are renaming our Cesar Chavez holiday. As Tempe has a paid holiday for employees, we will meet with our employee groups this week to discuss a new name, which will then be brought to Tempe City Council for approval.

100 degrees in March? It looks like it may happen this week. Temperatures in Tempe are expected to reach around 100 degrees this week. Typical highs in March are usually in the mid- to upper-70s. As temperatures rise well above normal, the City of Tempe is reminding contractors and residents about heat safety protections and simple steps to stay safe. Last year, Tempe adopted heat safety standards to help protect outdoor workers on City contracts.
