It's been a hard week for climate people. That warrants space. So does trying not to let it become a thought-terminating cliche.

@sadsadpanini Both could've done a lot better, true. Both also instilled more optimism than the "more oceanfront property" guy.

@terradotdo Though this is said every time a Conservative is elected, Obama made the US the highest oil producing nation in the world and Biden expanded that to have even more fracking, not to mention the wars he champions. All US presidents are climate destroyers.

Today's news makes it unlikely the U.S. government will take more meaningful climate action for years. That means people who care about a liveable future have to step up. Grief today is valid. Surrender to climate catastrophe is not.
