It is embarrassing to watch the leader of the world’s fourth-largest economy play the role of a sycophant while her own country faces an energy catastrophe. Between Trump’s "Pearl Harbor" insults and Takaichi’s "only you, Donald" praise, the U.S.-Japan alliance has devolved into a master-client relationship. Real leadership involves standing up for your people’s interests, not offering empty flattery to a leader who clearly has no respect for your history or your sovereignty. Huh!

It is disappointing that some countries which present themselves as democratic and peace-loving only see one side of the story. If you are truly committed to peace and international law, why are attacks on Iran’s infrastructure not condemned with the same seriousness? The security and lives of civilians should not be sacrificed for political interests and oil.
