My point with Allen is despite him being productive this year and the Chargers needing WR help they don’t seem eager to bring him back and his stint in Chicago was an absolute disaster. Allen started the season well last year (5 games of 50+ yards in first 7) and had 1 the rest of the season despite leading the team in targets with a very good QB. Diggs is still a productive player but he’s an unwilling blocker and not someone organizations (especially right one) probably want to deal with. I can understand Diggs more because there’s upside there and he’s not at the point in his career where his productive is basically all schemed up volume like Allen had this past season.

If that was the case for KA wouldn’t he have already signed a deal? As long as he’s a free agent you still think about the possibility of adding him. Kirk was massively underwhelming and had one good game vs PIT and was massively MIA in biggest game of year and when needed most vs NE with Nico & Schultz out including dropping passes. I don’t think his skillset was a fit, vertical threat, should almost be a Z wr. Diggs is a perfect fit in the slot role like he played under Slowik in 2024, although he’d have more freedom here. Was Z pretty much whole career until then and bumped back out in NE. Got out priced to bring back in Hou and I suspect NE didn’t like of the field stuff, he was very productive for them. I don’t see how that logic of teams moving on from him is an argument against him and lacks context. KA & Diggs are only two vet WRs I’d look to bring in as they are true slots and would fit what we need. If not that’s fine too and indictment on where the are with Noel. I see Noah and Samuel as Z WRs and not a need as we have 5 outside WRs on roster assuming tank plays z again.

It’s important to remember when we discuss possible WR additions/moves that the GM said at the end of the season to “expect more J Noel next season”. Noel was obviously limited as a rookie offensively but has a very high ceiling as a field stretcher and natural separator HOU lacks. I don’t think Caserio & co. would acquire somebody who would take more snaps from Noel.

Texans WR room as of 3/19: - Nico Collins - Jayden Higgins - Tank Dell - Jaylin Noel - Xavier Hutchinson - Justin Watson - Jared Wayne - Josh Kelly The current 7 in the room would be obvious but feels like a position Houston could look to add depth to.

@BiasedHtown They could use another depth piece but the top 5-6 guys are totally fine.

Does Keenan want to play anywhere that isn’t LA at this point though? He’s a legend for the Chargers franchise and they need WR help so if they thought he had a lot left in the tank it feels like they would bring him back. I also feel like if Houston wanted a vet slot why not just bring back Kirk who progressed in the offense as the season went along and was a plus blocker. I don’t see how Diggs is a fit in this offense at all, he is an unwilling blocker and now multiple offseasons in a row teams that needed WR help move on from him. If you want to bring in competition you can bring in a WR like Noah Brown or even Curtis Samuel, I just don’t think these old WRs who are clearly passed their best days solve anything.

Keenan Allen (signed a 1 year 3m deal last year and was highly productive) and Stefon Diggs depending on price and legal trouble make a ton of sense. They’ve targeted veteran slots last two years, including those two guys specifically. This offense needs a savvy veteran slot who knows defenses and how to adjust his routes based off leverage and coverage given the freedom in that adjuster role. Kirk was supposed to be that guy but was more of a vertical threat and underwhelmed on the iq side, rarely on same page as CJ. The tough physical contested catch chain mover is an element too Allen and Diggs add that this EP offense is built off of. Even then if you think these guys aren’t upgrades and price is low enough the argument can be made adding them over Justin Watson or Xavier Hutchison.

@afcstat Because Pregnon is 24 and Bisontis is 21, it doesn’t make sense to us to draft a very old rookie and sit him for a year or two.

@TexansJacob How does it make sense to say no to Pregnon because you’re not a fan of drafting a player who may not start right away but say yes to Bisontis?

@pelon8052321566 Hopkins spent the last 27 games of his career playing with arguably the 2 best QBs in the NFL & doesn’t even have 800 total yards to show for it. We have to be somewhat honest about what he is.

@TexansJacob Tbh Dhop can come in and could very easily be ur #2 guy no body of the WRs have equal or same type of strong hands like Dhop does just saying not wanting a cheap veteran presence in the locker room is beyond ridiculous Dhop is better then Wrs2-4

@TexansCommenter I just don’t see any option that makes sense to upgrade at that spot. Even if Noel has to split snaps I’d see what Tank has or let Higgins play more from the slot. They have options and versatility in the room that I don’t think any free agent WR really changes.

I don’t see it as a guarantee just because he said, “I’m sure we’re going to see more J. Noel next year.” I’d love for Noel to become the go-to slot WR, but none of us truly know how the team views his development or how they evaluate the options available. And bringing someone in doesn’t always mean it’s with the intention of taking snaps from him. This staff has shown they’re more than willing to avoid locking players into roles based on draft status. If there’s an opportunity to improve the overall depth of the roster, they’re going to take it. Another slot option could be added, and however it shakes out will determine the snap distribution, but the priority is building the best roster possible.

@pelon8052321566 What does Hopkins bring that you do not already have on roster? Your WR4 should not a worse version of your WR2.

@pelon8052321566 They did not draft Noel in the top 80 for him to purely be a punt returner, Noel will be more involved offensively next year as he should.

This is how I would rank the potential DT targets for the #Texans at pick 28: 1. Peter Woods (3T who has great tape as a pass rusher and run defender) 2. Kayden McDonald (1T who is an elite run defender) 3. Christen Miller (Excellent run defender with little pass rush bag similarly to McDonald) 4. Caleb Banks (Upside galore but a raw prospect who has injury concerns) I think any of these 4 would be worthy of Houston’s 28th pick.

@ChrisNallsNFL I don’t think they should sign anybody who takes snaps away from Noel & Higgins personally.

@e2j4s79 His upside is exceptional but the tape is very inconsistent to begin and then injuries. He’s more risky than the other 3 imo.

The Texans current edge rusher room: - Will Anderson Jr. - Danielle Hunter - Dominique Robinson - Dylan Horton - Solomon Byrd In 2025, Hunter & Anderson were 19th & 27th in snaps played for edge rushers despite playing every game. Barnett accounted for 350 snaps in that edge rusher room being the top reverse rusher while Horton was pretty ineffective in his snaps. In past seasons Houston has been able to assemble a DL room that can keep their top rushers fresh especially for later in the season. If they want to continue that gameplan they need to heavily consider DE early in the draft.

@TXNFootball It’s nice to have younger pieces like Hall and Togiai in that room compared to a few years ago with Foley, Autry, Edwards and more. Hall can be a piece for a few years and would have to assume they add another younger piece to that group early.

There is obvious upside there, but Hall's signing isn't talked about enough. Drafted before players like Pitre, K9, and Breece Hall, if anyone can get the most out of him, it's DeMeco's defense. Outside of Hall, Rankins and Hamilton are the only DT under contract beyond 2026.
Jacob@TexansJacob

Logan Hall on his potential role in Houston: “Ideally, for me, I think three technique is home. I love that position. But, ultimately, whatever is asked of me to do, I think I can do it at a high level.” Hall is likely to slide into the 3T role which still leaves DE3 as a potential hole moving forward for Caserio & Demeco.
