Replay: youtu.be/63068RGBJE0 I had the pleasure to moderate this panel focused on one practical question: If you’re a bank starting simple, custody + trading of a limited set of top coins, what does “bank-grade” actually require? I was joined by: - Irina Kessel — @Avaloq - Philipp E. Dettwiler — @CryptoFinanceAG - Christian Bock — @talostrading A few key takeaways from the discussion: - Digital assets are moving from experiments to real products, and the differentiator is now infrastructure. - Build vs buy isn’t binary: banks typically land on a hybrid approach, but must design the operating model early. - Custody debates (HSM vs MPC) matter, but governance and process matter more, and combinations can make sense depending on use cases. - Trading: starting with a single broker can be fast, but creates a single point of failure. Multi-venue / multi-broker access (or at least solid backups) is key, especially during volatility. - Core banking integration is where reality hits: crypto adds new constraints (24/7, decimals, gas fees). Standalone can help, but without proper integration, operations teams carry the burden. - The real secret sauce is orchestration: end-to-end workflows and a modular stack that can evolve over time.
