If you are Canadian, you probably recognize many of the names on this list. The Gold Leaf Award was the precursor to today’s Juno Awards. The Guess Who received the Gold Leaf Award for Top Vocal Instrumental Group in 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, and 1971. The Juno Awards are Canada’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in the Canadian music industry. Good luck to all this year's Juno nominees which takes place on March 29th in Hamilton, ON.

A trip down memory lane.

Back in the ’60s, we did weekly television for two seasons. Larry Brown, the producer of the show, had postcards made with the band’s pictures on them, and viewers were encouraged to write in and get a personal response. We would take the time to write a message on each postcard ourselves and then mail them back. Over the course of our two-year run on CBC, thousands of these postcards were signed and sent out, giving fans a direct connection to the band and helping make the show a memorable part of their week.

In 1966, The Guess Who with their then-producer and manager, Bob Burns. Burns was a well-known figure on the Winnipeg music scene, serving as the host of the CJAY TV show Dance Party. At the time, the band was still developing its identity and image. Before long, however, they would part ways with Burns, secure new management, and thankfully trade in those coordinated “outfits” for a much groovier wardrobe that better reflected their evolving sound and style.

We had a fantastic night at @HardRockHolly. Thank you to everyone who came out, sang along to the hits, got to hear some of our deeper cuts, and made it such a fun night. This was only the beginning!
