My uncle, Captain Wylder Modine, was a real B-17 "Flying Fortress" pilot during WWII. After returning from a bombing mission, he got hit by anti-aircraft fire and almost had his right arm taken off. He had his crew bail, but his co-pilot was shot up really bad and couldn’t parachute, so my uncle, with one arm, landed the heavily damaged B-17 in a field behind enemy lines. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart. I talked with him before making MEMPHIS BELLE in 1989. He gave me his dress uniform to wear in the film and said, “when you put that on, don't disrespect it.”

Robert Downey Jr arrogantly stating that the "stars of the future are going to be influencers" is "absolute horseshit" is crazy- considering most of the popular 'influencers' nowadays are more popular than actors. That future is already here. Actors have become so out of touch they don't realize- no one cares anymore. While influencers aren't trained actors, it's still a form of entertainment that people gravitate towards, and that Hollywood is threatened by- which is why the only 'influencers' he likes are the ones that interview him😂Also, labeling influencers as "hucksters" is rich coming from someone who gets paid millions to pretend for a living. You can't even be authentic without being directed lol

@DannyDrinksWine He was great but he's wrong about Kevin Kline. Sure, he can do slapstick with the best but he's also one of our best dramatic actors.

Patrick Swayze on why he begged to be cast in "Ghost" (1990) & the reason the role was very personal & the hardest he ever did: "When I read this script, I went crazy for it. I said, 'I'd ki!! for this role.' I have to do this role. I heard they were talking to Kevin Kline (for the lead role). But I didn't feel they needed that over-the-top humor. I basically had to beg. After "Road House' (1989) and "Next of Kin' (1989), that kind of pulled me away from the romantic image. Jerry Zucker was quoted as saying, 'Over my dead body will Patrick Swayze ...' I basically said, "I will come in. I will do anything he wants me to do. I will become putty in his hands.' I went in there (to read) and when I was done, they were all crying and they said, 'You got the role.' (Laughs.) And now Jerry's going around the country telling everybody, 'Oh, yeah. There's nobody else who could have done this role but Patrick.' It's the hardest thing I've ever done. I didn't expect it to be. There's nothing to play with. You don't have the luxury of the environment or a physical world or props or ... so that made it a little strange. "I really identified with Bob Hoskins in 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' (1988) It was very weird. The script was one of the hottest scripts around town. It was very much sought-after. When I read it, I cried about six times. It just ripped my heart out. I felt I had to do this movie. I felt like the world needed this film. I felt so strongly about what it could do... the statement it could make about love and taking love with you after you die. That felt so strongly to me, especially in today's time. About the only movies that work out there are movies that are ki!!ing people or blowing things up. I needed a movie like this. I needed a movie (that) when I come out of it, my soul is going to feel good, my heart is going to feel good. It changed me more as a person in any way than I would have imagined in terms of analyzing my unwillingness to commit that last bit in a relationship. I naively said, when I signed to do the movie, I said, 'Yeah, it's going to be great to do a comedy. It's light and everything.' That's the farthest thing from the truth. I didn't expect it to be so intense. Also, this movie allowed me to finally say goodbye to my Dad. Now, I believe he's (his spirit) standing right here." ("No Matter What, Swayze Loves "Ghost' Role", Chuck Davis, The Oklahoman, 1990)

@eMTBrides The Three Musketeers is my all-time favorite book. Despite having little in common with the book, that film version is the most fun.

One for all... and two moves for Charlie? ⚔️ who remembers the Three Musketeers (1993) Kiefer Sutherland shares the 'grueling' reality of training for The Three Musketeers. While Kiefer was busy mastering the art of professional fencing, it turns out Charlie Sheen had a much simpler strategy: learn two moves and look good doing them! 😆 Charlie Sheen was getting away with so much esp during the height of his career. 😄 via FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention #KieferSutherland #ThreeMusketeers #90sMovies #CharlieSheen #BehindTheScenes

Disney has reportedly offered Johnny Depp $301 million along with an apology to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. This comes after their fallout during Depp’s legal battle, when he previously said he wouldn’t return “even for $300 million.” Would you want to see him back..?

In The Breakfast Club, why does Allison Reynolds (the basket case) end up in Saturday detention? A) Stole gel pens for dramatic note-taking B) She had nothing better to do and showed up voluntarily C) Brought a mannequin hand to class, raised it instead of hers D) Brought a toaster to class, never plugged it in, just stared at it

I’m often asked about the pegboard scene in VISION QUEST. That was all me. No stunt doubles or safety measures. I trained for a long time and had to climb it several times to get all the angles. The “trick” is not to over extend, so you’d be pulling up your entire body weight. You have to keep it compact. Arms and elbows tight. 💪🏽 You can support the @FMJDiary project by bidding on a signed VQ poster here: ebay.com/itm/2062521319…

@AlexTran677026 I think the Oscar for Special Effects was pretty new then but I remember that year they didn't even nominate anything else. They just announced they were giving it to Total Recall.

In Total Recall (1990), the scene where Arnold Schwarzenegger disguises himself with the “large woman” mask at the Mars checkpoint is one of the film’s most iconic moments. When the mask malfunctions and opens up, his real face is revealed in a shocking twist. This practical effect, created with mechanical props rather than CGI, left a strong impression and has become a symbol of 1990s sci‑fi cinema.
