Don’t need a rule,just force schools to accept market tuition/fee price rather than the inflated U.S. government student loan with zero underwriting price set by the schools themselves. High cost area tier 1 school gets, say, $50k/head/yr (vs $75k now). Admin bloat will disappear real damn quick.

It is often said that administrators drive a lot of the hostile environment for conservatives on campus. Suppose that is true, what to do? Modest proposal: The federal government might say (more or less, devil in the details) that it will eliminate all federal regulation of higher education adopted since (say) 1990, and any university that does not within (say) two years reduce its administrator to faculty ratio to the level that prevailed in 1990 will lose its federal funding. If you want to be generous, let them go down to 110% of the 1990 ratio. This more politically possible and effective than DEI for conservatives. A smart version of a populist POTUS would argue for this by saying "it is high time we reduced the cost of higher education, and administrative bloat is the biggest driver of that cost. This is a plan to reduce administrative bloat to the level of 1990."

Having lived in NYC proper (not Brooklyn or Queens) for a quarter century, I would say it's a young or rich person's town. It also depends on what you value - if it's outdoors and green space, you might want to look elsewhere.

People who are gasping at this are missing out on the greatest feature of this apartment. There’s a tenant communal area that’s the main feature. It’s called New York City and it’s amazing. You can meet new people every single day, great food (some of it free), art installations, theater, literature, networking, jobs, walk everywhere, and the entire place is like a free gym. There’s a new commie landlord who may become a problem but we’ve survived worse.
