50-year-old Nigerian Drug Dealer Arrested in Nelspruit with R1.2 Million Worth of Drugs Including Crystal Meth, Cocaine and Heroin A 50-year-old Nigerian national was arrested in Nelspruit on 09 January 2026 for dealing and manufacturing drugs, following a law enforcement operation involving the White River K9 Unit, Tactical Response Team, and the Provincial Head Office Organised Crime Investigation Narcotics Unit. The arrest was based on intelligence received regarding the suspect’s involvement in drug activities. During a search of flats around Stonehenge, a hidden compartment inside a wardrobe was found containing 1.8 kg of crystal methamphetamine, 900 g of cocaine, various forms of crack cocaine, 250 g of heroin, and R44 800 in cash. The total estimated value of the drugs is R1.2 million. The suspect faces charges of dealing and manufacturing drugs, identity fraud, and contraventions of the Immigration Act. He is expected to appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court. Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi commended the collaboration between all units involved.

Members of the South African Police Service’s Anti-Gang Unit, acting on a tip-off about illegal weapons, conducted a rapid operation at a residential property on Friday. Once inside the premises, officers uncovered a cache of military explosives, prompting the immediate arrest of the suspect on the scene. The explosives seized are understood to be military-grade and illegal to possess without proper authorization. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court in due course, where he will face charges of unlawful possession of military explosives. This arrest comes amid intensified law-enforcement efforts across Gauteng to clamp down on illegal weapons and explosive materials. Similar operations have recently led to the interception of large quantities of military-grade explosive devices and blasting cartridges elsewhere in the country, underscoring ongoing concerns about the proliferation of illicit explosives and their potential use in violent crime.
