@JP_Priester Errors. Fielding. Seems like the team just is what it is this year.

Charleston assistant Chris Harriman is joining Brad Brownell’s staff at Clemson, source tells CBS Sports. Harriman, a highly regarded coach, spent two seasons with Chris Mack and previously worked at the high-major level at Cal and Nebraska for seven combined seasons.

@Ayo_TTime9 To me most of the details of this saga suggest something personal is or was going on behind the scenes. The way Wade reportedly announced it (email from his agent??), and the way LSU has behaved sounds more like a Hatfield-McCoy kind of situation than anything "professional".

@TheVOCFB D. An above average QB who gets more than an average number of possessions thanks to D stops has better odds of scoring.

@AlwaysCallHeads @WinterSportsLaw For sure the chaos favors athletes almost entirely, especially when written rules are ignored by teams or just not enforced by any authority. Rules effectively null. I believe over half of D1 players would welcome some structure that works for "student athletes". Not just pros.

It’s a bit naive to believe college athletics will reign itself in. The “student athlete” model has been long gone, well before the House settlement & schools paying athletes. Have to either stop operating pro teams or operate them like pro teams. Can’t stay in limbo world.

Will Wade's resignation letter was an email from his agent. Boo Corrigan said Wade did not reach out to him directly.

@CacophonousCalm @crazyunclelou @ClayTravis @uffan92 All I want is to see the "rules" formalized. Kind of like tampering in CFB, everybody is doing what they want so much that there really aren't any rules. Those who benefit don't GAS about blowback. Same for race comedy. Just do it. F*ck 'em. Your fans will support you.

Erika Kirk’s husband was assassinated in September. It’s March & a black comedian is putting on white face & mocking her in a video. Honest question, if a prominent black leader had been assassinated & a white comedian put on blackface & mocked his widow, what would happen?

@WinterSportsLaw No doubt it will be substantial. But my cynical radar always beeps when figures are .... "leaked". Dudes are known for exaggerating numbers when they don't have to prove it. 😉 Like the fish they caught at sea....

Info on what LSU’s basketball payroll will look like next season.👇 More than $12 million. Payroll budget is now probably the most important factor in the coach hiring process.
Pete Nakos@PeteNakos

Sources have told @On3 in recent days that Will Wade is expected to have a roster budget north of $12 million at LSU. Matt McMahon still has not been notified of his future, per sources. on3.com/news/nc-state-…

@WinterSportsLaw 2/ are like them. Private. High Endowment. Historical commitment to college athletics (at the highest level). ND, NW, Stanford, quickly come to mind as week as others. Could there even be a few dozen out of the hundreds that could follow the model entirely?

@WinterSportsLaw Could Duke be more of an outlier than a repeatable model? First, they benefit from being able to hide from public view any finances they wish. For the most part they are independent of state governance (e.g. not beholden to Regents/bodies, etc.). How many can replicate? So few 1/

This shows how integral athletics success has become to the marketing/image of many universities. It’s why many are now sending increasing amounts of $ to athletics departments. Another important point: schools now can’t rely as much on history/tradition in recruiting.

Duke became the first P4 school to win their conference football championship game and men’s & women’s basketball tournaments since the inception of football league title games. How? University funding like never before. “We do not want to be left out.” yhoo.it/487OBa8

@JP_Priester I didn't notice any mention of EZE directly. Was he called out at all? It was my impression Chad made sweeping statements about "rooms" (like RB, QB) just to avoid any quotables from slipping out.

@QualkTalk This only amplifies the professional character of "college" sports - at least the ones that generate positive revenue. Although not yet disclosed, expect some high salary bump. If coaches can do it, players should be free to do it. MBB. CFB. Etc. Counterarguments die each time.

The Will Wade-LSU stuff makes sense. He’s working for a boss he knows/likes at a job he liked. But also, it doesn’t make sense. After one year? After they fired you before? And here’s the kicker: Is LSU really a better job than NC State? I say no. Just bizarre.
