I don’t know man, homey running a Louis Vuitton bag of “excuses” with Olympic gold buckles and world champion rainbow design. If you can drop and ride away from the entire world tour peloton on a crosswind giant highway then you are welcome to roll with whatever bag you want with whatever you want in it.

Jonas showed again today that he is cold blooded killer bike racer, when he is of course racing. He also showed how he has complete control of the ditch that turns it on and off. One minute he is battling the best in cross winds, the next minute he is bridging across to the world TT champ at a bazillion watts, then the next minute he is willing to sacrifice (not go pull for pull) all that work (to get a second place) to save energy to kill all on the coming mtn stage. The next minute he is sitting up to avoid wasting energy and a chance at a cheap stage win to have a better chance at the win he wants in the mtn. Then the next minute he is calmly giving an interview about Remco after Remco ripped his legs off and yelled at him at the same time. Yes of course Jonas has amazing numbers, but mentally he has this killer instinct control and ability to bring it on demand which sets him apart. Today was a great example.

Everyday in every race someone falls in some silly “crashed in my driveway after my ride” manner. When we raced Tour of California I almost fell like this many times hitting those reflector bot dots that are both in the middle of the road and on the shoulder. Today it was just the guy who was gonna win the race and the guy who everyone wants to yell at for trying and then acting like a human.
MHP@MaleHumanPerso1

@tomdanielson I enjoyed the stage but I think it was a bit bizarre really. A crash out of nowhere right at the end following a strategically dubious attack which then petered out (before being re-ignited again) qualifies as unusual. Long may it continue!

Look at this headline! This headline reads like a TMZ one about Justin Timberlake like Remco was drunk in the finale of today’s stage. Nothing “bizarre” about a guy so strong he drops everyone in a crosswind and tries to win despite the guy who has beaten him at all the last grand tours sitting on him and not helping. Also nothing wrong with showing emotion in the moment. Tadej was on Netflix in this same scenario with Remco telling Jonas to f’ off for sitting on. Bike racing is hard and human beings are emotional when they give everything.

I lived in that area and I also live in a similar place now in the US. The valleys are the worst places for the wind and the climbs, which are sheltered from the trees and the speeds are slower, are the best. Possibly there is another reason to still run the stage but cut the most sensible part out. Or maybe the whole stage is going to be cancelled and they are just taking us fans’ hope down slowly.

You do realize every high level person has people around them constantly “instructing” them. When Remco attacked in the crosswind of sure he bridged on his own well before the radio even knew Remco had made the move. He still had many teammates so he very well could have asked the team to chase or wait for the team to tell him to have his team chase. So I doubt his move to go with him was exactly what the team would have had him do. But what I am talking about is his mindset and ability to shift back and forth from being a killer. That is different and he is clearly one of the best at it.
Mario@brykmario

@tomdanielson your ice cold killer is being instructed with every move so he owns nothing of you compliments. this kind of racing is the most disgusting skytrain style of free riding ever.

I gotta say Remco is the most human of the superhuman folks right now. Remco races with tons of emotion. Either performs amazing or falls short. Always comes back from the set back better. Says what’s on his mind in the interviews without holding back. He’s got gold medals and rainbow jerseys for days, a grand tour win, classics wins, world tour wins, yet he remains himself.

Yeah I’ve seen this the race officials give the race favorite the same time as the group in a situation like this before. I think any rider in the group would be upset with this as I don’t think anyone wants him to lose a result at the race for a silly crash. You could even argue every mass crash has one person at fault or that person causes the crash alone that spits the field and they have always gotten the same time. One way or another I can see why they gave him the same time.
Joe Marinaro@marinaroj

@tomdanielson Should he have been given the same time? Seems like the crash was all his own doing. I am not really familiar with all the rule details.

He flipped over and fell to the left even though he was turning to the right. When your hand comes off the handlebar from a bump you are not ready for you immediately go chest down to the bars. Then on the side your hand slipped off the wheel goes that way (left) and this stops you and flips you over.
Bubba Tex@TheBubbaTex

@tomdanielson Or was he going one way and Jonas the other way and they touched wheels?

Crazy crash by Remco entering the roundabout in Catalunya. Hard to say exactly what caused from the helicopter view it but guessing maybe his hand came off the handlebars when hitting the crosswalks as they are also serve as speed bumps.

? He had to chase flat out before the Cipressa and then had to move through the entire group on the Cipressa. Wild to even think about being able to do this. Pogi also had injuries to the areas in his body that he needs to produce power, legs, hips, and back. He did not just “slide.” He had his front wheel cleaned out and then he was hit from behind while on the ground.

@tomdanielson It helped him as he didnt have to manouvre into the cipressa keeping position. and i really think MvdP hit the deck harder as he was bowled over by van Aert. Pogi only slided. No fun but no impact except hot skin.

My thoughts after an incredible Milan San Remo… wow! 1. While it’s obvious, let's talk about the fitness/form of Tadej. He definitely came to this season and this race stronger than ever. His chase back and moving up into position on the base of the Cipressa was insane. Then attacking right off of that and riding away to the fastest-ever ascent of the Cipressa with a headwind shows he is at his best level by a mile this season. I honestly am so inspired. He backed that up with a record pace up the Poggio, dropping MVDP and riding away with Pidcock barely holding on. He also did the majority of the work today in the winning move (as he should) and won the sprint leading it out. Hard to see anything but a new level for Tadej in 2026, which netted him a win in a race, and under circumstances, that few would see as a likely win.

Well he got back to the peloton with the hand, got to the front of the group with the hand, made the winning move with the hand, descending both the Cipressa and the Poggio as the speed of the best riders with the hand, and then did the sprint with the hand. So the hand could do everything except for the pace on the Poggio… for sure he was hurt and it limited him, but I would say the effort around crash and the timing of it cost him the pace he needed on the Poggio.

@tomdanielson What broke MVDP's race was, indeed, the crash... but not going threshold for some minutes. It was this (confirmed by Mathieu himself, btw).

5. Wout van Aert also rocked a "never-say-die" performance, being on the back foot like Tadej and MVDP from the crash. After lots of chasing and surviving, he used his race craft to launch an attack close to the finish as the fast finishers set up their sprints. He stayed away for an excellent third and showed his class and growing form for Flanders and Roubaix.

4. Tom Pidcock and his team rode a stellar race, being at the right place at the right time while being able to deliver the performance he needed in the key moments. He raced so strongly and flawlessly, doing just enough to stay away from the group while riding conservatively to have what he needed to stay with Tadej. He definitely benefited from the two big favorites crashing and having to chase before the key moment, but he was the only rider who could follow Tadej on the day. Second place is a massive result, and staying with Tadej will be a massive boost of confidence for Pidcock moving forward. Oh, and how sick were those drone shots with Tadej and Pidcock on the descent off the Poggio!?

I’m pretty excited to see how Milan San Remo plays out tomorrow. So much is obvious (the favorites, their strengths, the places they have to make their moves) but it will be interesting to see what happens in the race. Will the favorites cancel each other out and will someone else take the win? Will one of the favorites have a bad day opening up a big win for another? Will a positioning mistake of a favorite play a roll? What are you guys hoping for from the race?!
