My "virtual" (paper) barrels have often been blamed for exacerbating mkt moves but now they are the ones that keep WTI contained. Selling pressure is coming from 1) large-scale producer hedging, 2) SPR front-running, and 3) some profit-taking on massive call option bets. #oott

The Australian army says its military base in the UAE, Al Minhad Air Base, was attacked by Iranian missiles/drones, today. According to their statement, some of the projectiles hit the base and caused damage to some facilities.

Your post is not accurate despite it being a narrative that is often repeated on X. Here are the facts: 1) @BillAckman and Pershing Square ("Pershing Square") earned all of their profits from Pershing Square's CDS position before Bill’s CNBC appearance on March 18, 2020. 2) Pershing Square had already reinvested more than half of the proceeds of the sale of the CDS in buying stocks by the time of the CNBC interview. 3) Pershing Square was over 90% long and had no short positions in any stocks or stock market indices at the time of Bill’s appearance. During the interview, Bill named several of the stocks that Pershing Square was buying that day, including HLT, QSR and SBUX. 4) Less than two hours later, at 2:55PM on the day of his CNBC appearance Bill posted the following to clarify his views on the economy: “Some investors have been confused by [my] remarks. To clarify, I am confident the president will do the right thing in temporarily shutting down the country and closing the borders. If that happens, we can win the war against the virus and the markets and the economy will soar. That is why we are buying stocks. JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs are now offering hedge funds ways to short the $1.8 trillion private credit market. They've assembled baskets of companies with exposure, alt managers, BDCs, and lenders tied to private credit. This isn't speculation. These are structured products designed to bet against an entire sector. Private credit defaults hit a record 9.2% in late 2025. Blackstone's $82 billion flagship credit fund saw $6.5 billion in redemption requests in Q1. BlackRock had to cap withdrawals after requests hit 9.3% of its HPS fund. Morgan Stanley and Cliffwater are also gating redemptions. JPMorgan already started marking down software-related loans in private credit portfolios. When the banks that lend to these funds start cutting the value of the collateral, it forces deleveraging at the worst possible time. US banks have lent nearly $300 billion to private credit providers. The exposure is not contained. Goldman's own data shows hedge funds are "aggressively shorting" financial stocks, the most-sold sector of the year. Financials are down 11% on the S&P. The same banks that helped build the private credit boom are now building the tools to bet against it. If that sounds familiar, it should.

China is among the largest fertiliser exporters - shipping more than $13 ‌billion worth of it last year - and it has a history of controlling exports to keep prices low for farmers. In mid-March, Beijing banned exports of nitrogen-potassium fertiliser blends and certain phosphate varieties, sources told Reuters. Added to existing bans and export quotas for urea, only a handful of fertilisers - notably ammonium sulphate - can be exported, five sources ​said. That would mean between half and three quarters of China's exports last year are restricted, potentially up to 40 ⁠million metric tons, according to a Reuters estimate.
