Today, I addressed @uetcl’s 17th Annual General Meeting for FY 2024/2025. The results are encouraging. UETCL recorded a 9.3% increase in revenue from energy sales, reaching UGX 1,672.8 billion, alongside an 11.8% growth in electricity sales volumes to 6,745.08 GWh, and maximum system demand growing to 1,202.9 MW. These figures reflect not just corporate performance, but real momentum in Uganda’s energy infrastructure. A reliable, expanding transmission network is the backbone of our industrialisation agenda and our commitment to universal access to electricity. I commend the UETCL Board, under the leadership of Chair Kwame Ejalu, and the entire senior management team for their continued focus and discipline. We are building the Uganda we want, one megawatt at a time.

I’m pleased to share that following the successful completion of our 17th Annual General Meeting, @uetcl's FY 2024/25 Annual Report reflects strong performance, 98.7% grid availability, 11.8% revenue growth to UGX 1,711bn, and completed key projects like the Mirama–Kabale line and Tororo–Opuyo section, which have improved reliability across the country. We also strengthened regional power trade (+8.1% Kenya, +27% Tanzania), advanced governance with ISO 9001 revalidation, and progressed our digital transformation agenda. I thank our shareholders, the Board, management and staff for their support and reaffirm our commitment to powering Uganda’s transformation.

This tragic incident highlights the grave danger of tampering with electricity infrastructure. Such infrastructure is vital for ensuring a reliable power supply. We urge the public to work together to protect and safeguard it.
UETCL@uetcl

PUBLIC NOTICE ⚠️ UETCL informs the public that a suspected vandal was electrocuted while attempting to climb a transmission tower on the Owen Falls–Lugazi Transmission Line in Lugazi. The individual is currently suspended on the tower as arrangements are being made for a technical team to safely retrieve the body. The matter has been handed over to the @PoliceUg for further investigation. UETCL strongly warns the public against vandalising or attempting to access electricity transmission infrastructure. High-voltage installations carry dangerous currents and can result in serious injury or death. We urge the general public to be vigilant and report suspected vandals to the nearest police station. Vandalism not only interrupts the power supply but is also a danger to human life. MANAGEMENT. @NankabirwaRS @uetcl_ceo

On Friday, 13 March 2026, Ms Lynda Biribonwa led a delegation of Board Members and staff from the Petroleum Authority of Uganda @PAU_Uganda on a benchmarking visit to the National Control Centre operated by the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited @uetcl . The visit aimed to draw lessons for the development and management of the Authority’s Real Time Monitoring Centre (RTMC). During the engagement, the team observed how the centre monitors power system parameters such as voltage, frequency, and load, while coordinating multiple power sources. The @PAU_Uganda delegation was received by Mr Kwame Ejalu, Chairman of the @uetcl Board, who led a guided tour of the facility. Key takeaways included the importance of rapid response times in resolving operational issues and the successful management of the centre by Ugandan professionals. Technical teams will conduct further benchmarking visits to draw additional lessons for the RTMC.

The engagement provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and knowledge exchange in advancing Uganda’s energy future. As our Muslim brothers and sisters observe the final ten days of the holy month of Ramadan — a period devoted to worship, forgiveness, and blessings — UETCL hosted an Iftar dinner for its Muslim staff. 🌙 During the gathering, Sheikh Waiswa Kinyiri Juma delivered a sermon encouraging Muslims to view work as a form of worship by striving for excellence and serving as good ambassadors of Islam. Speaking on behalf of Management, the Head of Human Resource & Administration, Halima Namatovu, urged staff to set good intentions in all they do, wish others well, and embrace self-reflection, reminding them that Allah blesses sincerity beyond measure.
