@stillphosphor Hi, it's an Angle Shades. (Phlogophora meticulosa). It should be safe to release. They're quite hardy creatures and can cope with a bit of cold weather.

@ukmoths So, in January I brought a large, plain bright green caterpillar in my house which was eating brambles. It pupated about a week later as a shiny black pupa. It emerged today at about 2” long with banded wings in soft greys and browns & a rusty underbelly. Ident please?

@wyliehorn Hi Wylie. Looks like Feathered Ranunculus. The Scilly ssp scillonea is quite dark and contrasty.
