#Tunisia: Decisions to suspend Tunisian League for Human Rights & other prominent NGOs is very concerning. This impacts critical legal & social assistance to victims, women’s rights, work on social & economic inequalities, & monitoring human rights, incl. in places of detention. These suspensions contribute to environment of intimidation & risk serious chilling effects on exercise of freedom of association, assembly & expression, & participation in public affairs. We urge authorities to halt immediately all such suspensions.

#Lebanon: Widespread human rights violations committed during first three weeks of recent escalation of hostilities between Hezbollah and the Israeli military are detailed in @UNHumanRights report published today. We call for prompt, thorough, independent & impartial investigations into all incidents involving allegations of violations of international humanitarian law. #Hungary: We welcome the EU Court of Justice ruling that the 2021 anti-LGBT law violates fundamental human rights. Human dignity, privacy, family life, freedom of expression & non-discrimination based on sexual orientation + gender identity are non-negotiable. These provisions of Hungary’s law must be urgently repealed.

#Indonesia’s new Domestic Workers Protection Law marks a breakthrough to protect over 4 million domestic workers, most of whom are women. It is essential that the authorities now move swiftly to implement this law, to make its protections real & effective in the every day lives of domestic workers. #Singapore: @volker_turk says continuing spike in executions for drug-related offences is extremely alarming. The death penalty is fundamentally incompatible with human dignity and the right to life.
