@urencousa has completed enrichment for Aalo-X's fuel. 💪 5% Enriched uranium that will power our pilot reactor is now being fabricated into fuel rods by @GEVernova. Urenco has delivered low-enriched uranium (LEU) fuel feedstock, in the form of uranium hexafluoride (UF6), to GE Vernova, marking the transition from uranium enrichment to fuel rod fabrication. After fuel rod fabrication, the fuel will be shipped to the Aalo-X Campus at INL, where it will be loaded into Aalo’s reactor and brought to criticality by July 4, 2026. Acquiring nuclear fuel can be a bottleneck for reactor developers, so Aalo is collaborating with the most experienced fuel suppliers in the West to accelerate small nuclear go-to-market. Data centers need clean electricity right away, so Aalo is taking a thoughtful approach to nuclear fuel to power the AI revolution. The Aalo-X reactor uses LEU (<5% U-235 enrichment) and a UO2 form factor that is proven by decades of operational experience. This means we're not reliant on future breakthroughs but on strong, existing fuel supply chains, leveraging the billions of dollars and decades of development already invested in them.
