Overnight, Nigeria and the United States recorded a significant example of effective collaboration in the fight against terrorism. Our determined Nigerian Armed Forces, working closely with the Armed Forces of the United States, conducted a daring joint operation that dealt a heavy blow to the ranks of the Islamic State. Early assessments confirm the elimination of the wanted IS senior leader, Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, also known as Abu-Mainok, along with several of his lieutenants, during a strike on his compound in the Lake Chad Basin Nigeria appreciates this partnership with the United States in advancing our shared security objectives. I extend my sincere gratitude to President Trump for his leadership and unwavering support in this effort. I commend the personnel involved on both sides for their professionalism and courage, and I look forward to more decisive strikes against all terrorist enclaves across the nation. In the last 3 years, we have been able to pay over N90 billion of the debt we inherited, and since we came into government, we have not taken any new loans. We have also generated $2.5 billion in investment for our state. - Sen. Uba Sani, Kaduna State Governor

I was pleased to welcome the Director-General of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Dr. Abdullateef Shittu, and his delegation on a strategic working visit centred on deepening collaboration on the State-Led Rice Transformation Initiative. Kaduna State’s selection as a pilot state is both encouraging and reflective of the significant strides we have made in agriculture and food systems development. I commend the Nigeria Governors’ Forum for recognising Kaduna State’s sustained commitment to agricultural transformation, food security, and rural economic growth. Agriculture remains at the heart of our administration’s development agenda because we firmly believe that economic stability, social progress, and lasting peace are closely tied to the prosperity of our farming communities. Our administration has scaled up budgetary provision to the agriculture sector from the 0.5% allocation (N1.48 billion) we inherited in 2023 to 13% (N108.38 billion) in the 2026 budget, thereby surpassing the 10% benchmark set by the Malabo Declaration. This strategic investment has strengthened Kaduna State’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading producers of major cash crops and enabled landmark initiatives such as the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) and the Agricultural Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC). I reaffirmed our administration’s full support for the Rice Transformation Initiative and endorsed the proposed implementation council, which I shall personally chair. We remain committed to building strong partnerships that will advance sustainable agriculture, strengthen food security, create jobs, and support enduring stability across Kaduna State and Nigeria at large. I was honoured to receive the Country Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Nigeria, Mr Cheikh Touré, on a courtesy visit of mutual goodwill and constructive engagement. Our discussions were anchored on the imperative of strengthening collaborative responses to the intersecting challenges of substance abuse, mental health conditions, and insecurity, with particular attention to the North-West region and other affected parts of the country. I reaffirmed Kaduna State’s steadfast commitment to a public health–centred and evidence-based approach, one that prioritises prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and social reintegration. I conveyed the appreciation of the Government and people of Kaduna State to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his leadership and for fostering an enabling national environment that continues to support subnational reforms in peacebuilding, healthcare strengthening, and community security architecture. I also expressed gratitude to the UNODC for its consistent partnership, technical assistance, and global expertise. UNODC Representative Touré commended Kaduna State for evolving as Nigeria’s benchmark for drug prevention and treatment, with one of the country’s most effective mental health laws. He noted that Kaduna is the first and only jurisdiction in Sub-Saharan Africa to implement the Alternatives to Incarceration (ATI) programme and the first in Nigeria to adopt the Child Amplified Protection System, while leading the 2025 Transparency and Integrity Index for the second consecutive year. Kaduna State remains fully committed to deepening its partnership with the UNODC, including consideration of the proposed International Summit on Drug Abuse, Kaduna, as part of our collective resolve to advance a safer, healthier, and more inclusive society grounded in inclusive sustainable development across communities in Kaduna State. KADUNA INTENSIFIES POLIO ERADICATION DRIVE AS HEALTH COMMISSIONER ENGAGES TRADITIONAL LEADERS IN SOBA In Turawa community of Soba Local Government Area, a renewed wave of commitment is strengthening Kaduna State’s journey toward a polio-free future, as the Honourable Commissioner of Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmed, leads high-level advocacy to the grassroots. The visit underscores a critical reality: ending polio is not only a government effort, but a shared responsibility driven by trust, awareness, and community leadership. By engaging directly with the Village Head of Turawa, Alhaji Dahiru Umar, the state is reinforcing the role of traditional institutions as vital partners in protecting children from preventable diseases. The impact is already visible. Caregivers are increasingly bringing out their children for immunization, while local leaders are mobilizing households to ensure no child is missed. At vaccination posts, children under five received life-saving doses of the polio vaccine simple interventions that prevent lifelong disability and secure healthier futures. Reaffirming community ownership, the Village Head pledged sustained support for immunization and broader health initiatives, signaling stronger grassroots alignment with government health priorities. At the Primary Health Care Centre in Turawa, the Commissioner emphasized the human side of healthcare delivery calling on frontline workers to serve with professionalism, empathy, and dedication, knowing their work directly shapes lives and communities. Backed by key development partners including WHO, UNICEF, the Gates Foundation, AFENET, CHAI, Rotary International, and others the initiative reflects a coordinated, multi-stakeholder approach that combines global expertise with local action. This sustained engagement is delivering results: increased awareness, improved vaccine uptake, and stronger community trust in public health interventions. Ultimately, these efforts reaffirm Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to leaving no child behind ensuring that every community, no matter how remote, is protected, informed, and part of Kaduna State’s progress toward a healthier, polio-free future. #KadunaState #PolioFreeKaduna #HealthForAll

In furtherance of our unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of our people, I had the privilege of inaugurating the Kaduna State Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) Peace and Security Committee. This marks a decisive step in our ongoing efforts to consolidate peace and entrench sustainable security across Kaduna State. Kaduna State is also serving as the pilot state for this peace and security initiative, reflecting national confidence in the effectiveness and promise of our security framework. From the very outset, this administration has pursued a carefully balanced strategy; combining kinetic responses with thoughtful non-kinetic interventions, within what has come to be widely recognised as the Kaduna Peace Model. This approach is grounded in a clear understanding that insecurity is not merely a function of criminality, but often the consequence of deeper structural challenges, including poverty, exclusion, and limited economic opportunity. Through sustained collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, the National Counter Terrorism Centre, the Armed Forces, and other security agencies, we have recorded measurable progress. Intelligence coordination has been significantly strengthened; key transport corridors, including the Kaduna–Abuja highway, the Birnin Gwari axis and other previously flash points, are now markedly safer; economic activity is steadily rebounding across these places; markets have reopened; and our farmers are returning to their fields with renewed confidence. I am particularly encouraged by the commendation of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, ably represented by Ambassador Abimbola Wonosikou, who described the Kaduna Peace Model as worthy of emulation for its deliberate focus on addressing the underlying drivers of insecurity. The Committee, under the able leadership of the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyare, brings together a broad coalition of stakeholders: government institutions, security agencies, civil society, and traditional and religious leaders. Its mandate is to guide the structured rehabilitation, skills development, and reintegration of individuals exiting violence, while fostering community trust and long-term stability. Together, we shall build a Kaduna State where peace is not merely promised, but lived; where security is shared by all; and where the future is defined not by fear, but by possibility.
