Covering the anus should never be a solution to heal diarrhea. The @Educ_SportsUg has halted all school tours which is good but here are the issues that we must address. 1- Is it practical for a 1 driver to drive over 240 km x 2 in one day?. 2- Are school drivers or those that they hire for tours experienced in long distance driving? 3- What is the status of of the roads to some tourist destinations?. 4-Can't we do without school tours? Rest in peace to all Angels of King David Junior School.

As of now, the death toll stands at 24. Most likely 23 of them are children. Given how fragile their bodies were, the number may rise but I pray it does not. It has been an agonising day. A sad day. A day that forces sober reflection on what must be done. I am not an activist. I am a professional road‑safety practitioner. Without pointing fingers at any individual or institution, these are my technical observations: 1. School trips are not the problem. Packing a bus with many children is. Schools taking children on educational trips is normal and healthy. The real danger comes from greedy bus owners who overload vehicles. Any driver carrying school children will naturally be anxious, adding overloading to that anxiety is a recipe for disaster. 2. Uganda needs proper child‑specific buses. We should import buses designed specifically for children, with appropriate seats, proper restraints, and functional seatbelts. These should be mandatory and duty‑free. Right now, children are transported in adult buses with dysfunctional or improvised seatbelts. 3. All buses must undergo strict Technical Inspection twice a year Every bus (regardless of type) should be inspected twice a year. Traffic Police must be equipped to enforce this. Certificates of roadworthiness must be verifiable, eliminating the fake certificates from Nasser Road. 4. A driving permit is not proof of competence. Holding a permit and badge does not guarantee skill. Competence requires a multi‑step evaluation: - Physical fitness - Knowledge of traffic laws - Hazard perception - Real‑world driving behaviour A permit or badge alone is insufficient. 5. Government must invest in On‑Board Computers (OBCs). Every commercial bus should be fitted with modern OBCs. These systems monitor: - Real‑time location - Driver Behaviours - Vehicle diagnostics - Harsh events like hard braking Each costs about USD 560. For one thousand buses, that would USD 560,000. Advertise and get a supplier who will do the installation establish a control centre and even allow bus owners to track the same things government is tracking. Professional logistics companies protect their goods with these systems. How can we allow haulers to value cargo more than we value our children and citizens in general? 6. Schools must inspect routes before any trip. Every school planning a trip must conduct a route safety assessment prior to the trip to identifying black spots, hazards, and any road features that compromise safety. I already have a list of features to check out.

This parent drove from work to King David Junior School to stop his two children from joining the tour. He acted after learning of a school accident in Mukono. "I was born alone; my children shouldn't go," he told the bursar and that's how his kids survived.
