Every small boat that reaches the UK is destroyed within 44 days. A specialist enforcement team examines boats and engines to identify upstream patterns, enabling supply chains and smugglers to be disrupted before Channel crossings are launched from the French coast.

Net migration is down by nearly 70%, with visa numbers continuing to fall. By introducing higher salary thresholds, stronger English language requirements and preventing visa abuse, we're building a system that backs British workers while attracting high-skilled labour.

Our work with France has stopped 42,000 attempts by illegal migrants to make the journey across the Channel. While we finalise a new and improved UK-France deal, French law enforcement, intelligence and military reservist officers will continue to patrol the beaches and stop illegal migrant crossings. We will do whatever it takes to restore order and control at our borders.

Over recent years, guidance has failed to keep pace with the digital age and has led to officers being called out to people’s homes over insults and routine arguments.

Police time will no longer be wasted investigating legal social media posts, freeing up officers to patrol the streets and tackle real crime. By scrapping Non‑Crime Hate Incidents, we are balancing the protection of vulnerable communities while respecting free speech.

The grooming gangs scandal is one of the darkest moments in our country’s history - where the most vulnerable were abused and exploited by evil child rapists. The independent national Inquiry will now begin its work to uncover how these crimes were allowed to happen and root out failure wherever it occurred. The Inquiry will be laser‑focused on grooming gangs and will explicitly examine the role of ethnicity, religion and culture - including how institutions responded. There will be no hiding place for the predatory monsters who committed these vile crimes.

I met with members of the Jewish community at @JW3London to offer my support after Monday's abhorrent attack in Golders Green. Antisemitism has no place in society and we are taking action to defeat this evil.

Gangs are being shut down before small boats reach the Channel. Four men have been arrested in Germany suspected of running a small boats scheme that could have been used to transport 1,000 illegal migrants to the UK. It's estimated each crossing would net them €100,000.

Our crackdown on visa abuse is now in force. From today, study visas will be refused for applicants from Sudan, Afghanistan, Cameroon and Myanmar. We will always offer sanctuary to those genuinely fleeing danger, but we must stop those exploiting our generosity.

In June 1984, violence between police and miners at Orgreave led to 95 arrests and many injuries. All charges were later dropped. Today, the Orgreave Inquiry has launched to uncover the full picture and finally give miners, families and communities the answers they deserve.

For over 40 years, miners, families and communities have lived with unanswered questions about what happened at Orgreave in 1984. Many were injured and 95 people were arrested. All charges were later dropped. Today, we launch an inquiry to uncover the truth.
