uMngeni-uThukela Water assures consumers that drinking water supplied from Wiggins Water Treatment Works remains safe for consumption. While consumers may notice an earthy or musty taste or odour caused by naturally occurring 2MIB linked to blue-green algae in the source water, this affects taste and smell only, not water safety. #WaterQuality #UUWUpdates #1WaterBoardforKZN

The 2026 campaign for International Day of Biological Diversity seeks to connect community led initiatives with global targets fostering local actions that support the 2030 sustainable development biodiversity goals. It emphasizes that individual, community and local level action is essential to create a lasting, measurable and positive impact on global biodiversity conservation. Biodiversity is the foundation of all life on Earth. It is fundamental to human well-being, a healthy planet, and economic prosperity for all people. We depend on it for food, medicine, energy, clean air and water, protection from natural disasters as well as recreation and cultural inspiration. Take action by : - Planting indigenous vegetation to attract naturally occurring insects and animals. - Rehabilitating, protecting and managing wetlands and other aquatic ecosystems. - Organizing and participating in clean-ups. - Adopting a spot to ensure that the area remains clean and litter free. #biodiversityday2026 #GlobalGoals #TakeAction #1WaterBoardForKZN

The current storage of the South Coast System (i.e. Umzinto and E.J. Smith Dams), which supplies water to small towns of Park Rynie, Umzinto and surrounding rural communities, is at 84% of its full supply capacity. DID YOU KNOW? Climate forecasts indicate a shift towards El Niño conditions as we move into the winter season. El Niño cycles are typically associated with reduced rainfall, higher temperatures, resulting to increased evaporation across Southern Africa. Let us plan for dry times by using water wisely while it is still flowing. #DamMonday #UseWaterWisely #ElNiño #ClimatChangeIsReal #ProtectPreserveLive
