Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.

@VETOED Solos are ass. I stopped playing since ratting is incentivized in that mode. I'm not even sure that could be fixed. But whoever soundwhores better or crouchwalks and sees the other guy first is the least engaging experience imo.

To address the previous Marathon tweet; I was just complaining about how solos feel. I realize it's not the intended experience, and it also isn't bad for being stealth-based. I just like to run in and beast people. It's not quite that and that's OK! Still an incredible game

@CaptainAshtro I suspect solos have more individuals on a map than there are total crews. I'd wager like 50% more

@VETOED If we go into trios solo with fill turned off I wonder if we take up a whole team slot 🤔 Rook is of course good for this but we'd have more time, and less teams

After ~20 hours of Marathon solos I'm a bit checked. The game feels more horror-survival RPG than FPS to me. Need XYZ progression to reset/survive unpredictable encounters, and most PvP battles aren't duels as much as it is surprising someone Fun, but not getting FPS dopamine

@VETOED @Gigz Yea like trio feels better but also sharing contract faction xp is something I feel is much needed for the progression

@Gigz Yeah I'm realizing it's not just affecting the game experience but also progression. I have like nothing unlocked from risking and rushing all the fights I see and that hurts a bit. Might just commit to squads and stick to rook runs when I wanna solo

@JoeSmithxiw I think I dislike that in solos with how prevalent traps and enemies are, it incentivizes letting others take the risk to activate things. I might have an easier time just focusing on safe kills But I agree, WSTR is overall what bothers me the most about the current balance

@VETOED PvP battles to me were like information game: who hears and locates who first, which I liked. WSTR definitely needs a tune though
