A market maker, whether automated or not, needs to break even. This means it needs to respond to prices set on the derivatives markets, which makes the price manipulatable
The Reserve has no need to break even, so it only responds to actual holders buying and selling
So for the first time ever prices can’t be manipulated by people who don’t own the currency
