It takes Bitcoins BIP 8, BIP 9, and DASH’s dynamic activation thresholds and improves upon them. ⚡With RIP-01 we will have the option to enable voting specifically for miners, or Smartnodes, or both. This is important, as voting from both may not be needed. For example a quorum consensus change may not need miner votes, and change to POW algorithm may not need Smartnode votes. ⚡We will now be able to tailor voting specifically for any update and situation which greatly increases the likelihood of a smooth protocol level updates. What are votes? If you are a miner and mining to a pool that is running X version you are voting for that version.
