Just one year and 12 days after the catastrophic July 4, 2025 flood, the Texas Hill Country has once again been devastated by extreme flooding. Kerrville police confirm one person has died. More than 20 inches of rain fell in just two days, sending the Guadalupe River surging. Near Comfort, the river rose roughly 25 feet in about an hour Thursday morning, cresting above 37 feet. Another heartbreaking reminder of how quickly lives can change in the Hill Country. @weatherchannel is live in Kerrville.

**FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY** In the same areas that were just hit last July during the deadly flooding in TX -- this same river is swelling to deadly levels again. These levels could reach as high as the catastrophic flooding from last July 4th, 2025. 10-20" of rain so far

The Leona River is on the rise in Uvalde, and the water is still climbing. Mandatory evacuations have already been ordered in some areas as floodwaters continue to surge. This isn’t just a Leona River story. Rivers across South Texas, including the Nueces, Frio, Sabinal, and Oasis, are surging toward major flood stage. Some forecast crests could challenge or exceed records, and the National Weather Service warns the flooding is far from over. For many communities across this part of Texas, these are the highest water levels they’ve seen since the devastating floods of the 1990s, and in some places, not since the late 1970s. It’s another reminder that in Texas’ Flash Flood Alley, rivers can transform from quiet streams into life-threatening torrents with astonishing speed. Stay with @weatherchannel for continuing coverage as this dangerous flood event unfolds.

No this is not a tornado...This video captures a scud cloud interacting with a slow-moving updraft along the leading edge of a storm's outflow boundary. While local terrain can sometimes generate minor, localized circulations or "gustnadoes" in these areas, the rising motion here is far too slow to be tornadic. This visually intimidating feature is just a normal part of storm dynamics and is not a tornado.
