Widgetsmith’s Holiday update is out:
- Photo and themeable Countdown widgets to count down to any date
- Lights, Wreath, Candy Cane and Elf themes
- Also, includes a bunch of new weather widgets and themeable moon phase widget.

Though surprisingly, the most interesting part of this project was coming up with a hand shadowing scheme that looked good on all clock face colors. Ended up needing to dynamically adjust the shadow tint so that it could seamlessly blend in but still give just enough separation.
I think the last 2 years of my development career could be neatly summarized as me just continuously finding new outlets for my love of crafting custom watch faces. Most recently in Widgetsmith getting a bit carried away with custom clock hand types (15 so far). Coming soon.
v1.0.5 is out. With some new photo widgets and fixes.
(Also, I gotta say I originally added Futura as a counterpoint for some of the more ‘fun’ fonts…and it is really growing on me as a widget option, it and SF Rounded are my current favorites)
I just pushed out Widgetsmith v1.0.2 which includes:
- A new single photo widget
- Some more font options
- A new set of pastel background colors &
- a bunch of fixes.

I've also settled in on only offering the four SF fonts as options. Between them (SF Pro, SF Rounded, New York & SF Mono) I think it covers a wide enough rage of styles that all fit in well on the home screen, while still given a bit of range for personality.
I’m generally really liking the left aligned, 16 pixel inset aesthetic for widgets. But I *think* I prefer edge-to-edge for more graphical content like this:
