Trump declares almost 50% of Americans to be public enemy number one – right after Iran. This is no longer politics; this is open civil war from the mouth of a president. Anyone who brands half of their own people – millions of ordinary Americans who simply vote differently – as the "greatest enemy" hasn't understood America; Trump hates it. This rhetoric isn't "tough," it's treacherous. It destroys precisely what makes America strong: the idea that Americans, despite all their differences, are one nation. Trump has just proven that he doesn't want to be president of all Americans – but merely the leader of a faction that considers the rest the enemy. Insane. And extremely dangerous.

@jonathanplumb I think you’re projecting the shame and self-loathing you felt onto an awful lot of people.

Some think apostasy means a person wakes up every day and says, “I am going to war with God and the Church, and will seek out members to attack.” But that’s not really how it works. An apostate is simply one who believes they know better than God, typically as it pertains to their own life and happiness. I’ve never known one that seeks out war. Rather, all I’ve known seek attention, and to maximize their own happiness. It was also my mindset when I was an apostate. We may fight here or there, but war isn’t the intent. That’s not to say none have waged war. Scripture tells us of some. But I would argue that happens only after one has exalted himself, amassed a following, and then encounters a trigger that makes him want to utterly wipe the Church from the face of the land. And that is when the true trial of the faithful begins. Will they abandon their faith out of fear of man, or uphold it out of fear of God? History has too often chosen fear of man. But no more. Today, we choose fear of God.

I love Mormons, but I will not lie to them and pretend that their religion is Christianity. Their religion does NOT accept these truths: 1. The Bible is the only word of God 2. God's nature is triune 3. Jesus is eternal & wasn't created 4. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone.
