Last night we saw @GoalDiggersVal and @YNKval from groups A & B qualify straight through to playoffs.. Tonight, from 6:30PM AEST, we'll see another 2 teams from Groups C & D qualify!

5th- @YNKval (2W-5L) A disappointing end to YONKOs split means they are out of the Playoffs in 5th. Some tough matches as well as 1 of their series wins being a forfeit, its going to be hard for them to pick themselves up. Their best map was Haven, with 2 wins from 3 games at a 47% win rate on attack and 54% on defence, they competed on both sides of the map well but unfortunately could not secure enough wins on their other maps played to make top 4. BOBO was their next opponent after the halfway mark, with BOBO being in top form they looked to deliver the goods early. Ascent was the first map, YONKO won the pistol and the following anti eco, but it was 1 way traffic from that point on in the half. BOBO managed to win the next 9 rounds straight, only dropping 1 round at the end and going into the 2nd half 6 rounds up. With the might of BOBO against them, they were unable to recover the deficit despite a hard fight back in the 2nd half, they managed to win 7 of the 11 rounds played but went down on map 1 10-13. They then went to fracture where they never really got going on defence, despite a hard fought 4-8 half they didn’t find any consistency in the map and it led to the team winning 7 rounds in total on the map but being swept in the series 0-2. They then headed to round 6 with no chance of Playoffs, but an opportunity to finish on a high against an in form Hornswogglers. Starting off on Haven YONKO had a brilliant start. Leading 6-2 after 8 rounds they were hitting all the right protocols, but being against a quality team they weren’t able to run away with this start, HSW winning 3 of the last 4 rounds to allow YONKO a slight lead of 7-5. Their defence was impressive, with @vent_oce on the cypher having a KDA of 12/7/2 he was key to their sites being held down and allowed Yonko to steadily gain rounds in the half and won Haven 13-9. With that map win, YONKO had a chance to make a statement that they are a team who is a contender by taking on one of the top 4 seeds in Group B and leading the series. Heading to Pearl, HSW were out for blood. YONKO, despite their best efforts were only able to find 3 rounds on attack, and with such a deficit to fight back from they went down 5-13 eventually, starting HSW run at a comeback. Icebox was the final map of the series, and YONKO came out of the blocks early. A 5-1 lead after 6 rounds, it looked like they were going to take the series victory and leave open the smallest opportunity at a Playoffs appearance. The momentum swung back however, HSW winning all 6 rounds remaining in the half, setting YONKO back 2 rounds as they entered their defence. Another close half was on the horizon, a similar pattern with YONKO winning 4 in a row and yet again starting strong. But this battle was intense, with HSW fighting back all the way to rounds 23 and 24, with back to back wins sending us to overtime. YONKO got the first round in overtime and another chance to clinch the series, but it was HSW class coming through to deny, winning 3 rounds in a row and breaking YONKO’s heart who lost the series 1-2 with a score of 13-15 on Icebox. Again it was @vent_oce shining as the team MVP of the series, this time on Reyna dropping 23/21/3 with 3 first bloods in such a tight series. They unfortunately forfeited their final series, being unable to have all 5 members available to play against Full House, ending their split with 2 wins and 5 losses. YONKO will need to take their experience from this group stage to elevate for Relegations. They showed they can fight to the end against top level teams, but as I said at the halfway point, they are missing that finishing touch to close out several maps. That pressure to do so only comes from playing more officials, so we will see if they can prepare well for the next Split and get some more series victories.
