When you get frustrated with congressional Dems, take a breather and look at some of the governors. They’re doing the ground game work. Beshear has been excellent as DGA Chair, and Rob Sand is a stellar candidate. I’ve really loved the campaign he’s run.

Thinking Dave Portnoy might bite on a friendly chat with a hard-left-on-everything-but-guns, “Eat the Rich”-style self-described communist, venomously and obsessively anti-Israel politician who also just so happens to have a literal fucking Nazi tattoo is about as close as it gets to political consultant malpractice.
Portnoy’s politics are the antithesis of Platner’s at basically every level.

@dogy_logy @LExpeditionary @PollTracker2024 Zero of that was conviction. That was her stumbling around in the dark. I’ll give Zohran credit for handling the question on Fox News last summer. You should want her to be better at making the pitch like that. The question was always coming. Her answer should have been ready.

there’s this weird pattern where dems just won’t say anything out of fear of alienating a hyper vocal but small base or they are able to speak about “crime” but only in the format of political corruption or unethical/illegal behavior by the rich and powerful. but this also just isn’t how the average american is thinking about crime.

@plathiandc And what’s really weird is how many of them are not prepared to answer these questions. I’ll give Zohran credit for handling it well on Fox News, but overall it’s been a lot of stumbling from people who were standing ten toes down on defund the police just a few years ago.

several dems (especially on the state and local level) got out over their skis on public safety between 2020-2021 and none have found their footing since. it’s either attempting to contextualize the statements or disavowing them. no actual policy.

@yemisi I'm so tired of the most ridiculous people and policies being platformed for high offices. The majority of Americans do not want police defunded, and running candidates like this isn't helping us have hope at a healthy political future. Good grief.

Folks, watching another DSA elected try to walk back their defund the police position is starting to feel like a rerun of my favorite show. Francesca Hong didn’t just flirt with defund. She talked about abolishing police. And now she wants to be governor? Be serious.

I was curious who this was and she’s an extremely wealthy Grammy-winning artist. It’s always amazing to me how wealthy gentrifying elites constantly try to slice ordinary people apart by race instead of just accepting that cities are shared spaces meant for everyone.

It’s not enough for candidates to suddenly say the right thing on public safety if their staff and political teams are still trying to enforce the old defund/abolish worldview in the background. Don’t be fooled. Dig deeper, always.
