LIVE REVIEW: You Me At Six, OVO Arena Wembley, 04/04/25 ‘Ladies and gentlemen, this is it, the last fucking show, let’s go!’ And with that simple and concise phrase, You Me At Six launch into ‘Room To Breathe’, the opening statement of their final ever performance. Rarely does a band get to end their journey entirely on their own terms, a reality not lost on the five men on stage as they drink in every moment of this part wake, part celebration. The two hours that follow run the full breadth of their two decade discography as multiple generations of fans smile, weep and sing through ‘Stay With Me’, while the double punch of ‘Save It For The Bedroom’ and ‘Take Off Your Colours’ winds back the years. Newer cuts from ‘SUCKAPUNCH’ and ‘Truth Decay’ are greeted with similar levels of hysteria, the former’s title track encouraging a mass Wembley rave before ‘Mixed Emotions’ unites the crowd with a chorus that has never felt more apt than tonight. As a sea of phone lights illuminate the stage for a sensitive and touching ‘Fireworks’, the gravity of the moment truly hits as Josh Franceschi allows the crowd to carry the weight for a moment, embracing each of his brothers, many tears shed around the room as Max Helyer and Chris Miller allow their duelling guitars to chime out together in harmony as the spotlight fades. An acoustic ‘Liquid Confidence’ leads to reminiscing as Josh recounts how these friends came to start a band and eventually conquer the world, before concluding ‘Thank you for taking us into your headphones and your homes and your hearts’. So, with a bouncy ‘Beautiful Way’, visceral ‘Bite My Tongue’ and their defining anthem ‘Underdog’, the evening, and indeed the band, comes to a close. As they unite centre stage for a hug and final picture, the screen behind them proudly declares ‘We have been and will always be You Me At Six’.
