Because of the 15th St bike lane, you can ride from Meridian Hill Park to the White House, from the Washington Monument to the Tidal Basin and all the way to Mount Vernon. It’s simply the best urban bike facility in the country and removing any part of it is a travesty

The 15th Street Protected Bike Lane south of Constitution Ave is slated to be removed on Monday, per 2 sources Reportedly DDOT did not raise strong objections to it and has further not objected to using the Hains Point bike lanes for car traffic during the cherry blossoms

This assumes that the probability of development of zoned capacity is 100%. That's unrealistic. Let's math it out: DC needs 120,000 units by 2050. Assume a high p(dev) of 5% every 5 years. DC would need to zone for 622,100 units—not 135,000. We're planning for a housing shortage.
DC Office of Planning@OPinDC

To keep housing prices from rising relative to inflation, OP estimates that DC needs capacity to support at least 460,000 households by 2050. Through DC 2050, we're planning to add capacity for an additional 15,000 households. Read more: dcgis.maps.arcgis.com/sharing/rest/c…

We're taking action. Join us for a Rally for Housing - Saturday, 11 AM at MLK Library! After the rally, we'll attend the OP workshop and tell them a map that locks in rising home prices, displacement, and exclusion isn't acceptable. RSVP below.

Ugly and should not be allowed. We have commuter stations with massive parking garages that are never used. Park there, take the train to the stadium. Anything less is an abdication of both our duty to the environment and the project of keeping DC beautiful.
Cuneyt Dil@cuneytdil

The Commanders want to build massive parking decks, up to 110 feet or 11 stories tall, new filings show. Renderings don't do it justice but it'll poke out in the skyline. axios.com/local/washingt…

@RiniSampath @billyez2 We have to allow rowhouses in every neighborhood! It’s illegal to build DC’s most famous housing type on the majority of residentially zoned land in the city.

One of the top concerns I hear from residents is housing affordability. The draft future land use map fails to address these concerns. Minor tweaks to the current plan will increase housing costs, further straining household budgets. If elected, my priority will be a bold, comprehensive plan that allows substantially more housing and development throughout DC. Upzoning will be the rule, not the exception. We must ensure there is a sufficient supply of homes in DC so that communities are not pushed out by rising costs. riniformayor.com

The surest path to lower rents for everyone? Building enough homes so landlords have to compete for tenants—rather than the other way around.

At our March meeting, ANC 1B passed a resolution strongly condemning any actions by the Federal Government to remove the 15th Street Bike Lane - a route that safely connects Columbia Heights to Downtown DC, the National Mall, and into Virginia.

@dcyimbys This entire stretch along Connecticut and Wisconsin is a joke. This sketch shows half mile and 1 mile radii from metro stations. There should be no single family home zoning in those areas!

The latest on the 15th St bike lanes on the Mall (south of Constitution NW): sounds like a surveyor verbally confirmed they are preparing to remove the bike lane TBD timing. I understand WABA has/is strategizing and figuring out legal options/responses.

despite the images and rhetoric, we’re banning rowhomes again in the majority of the city & imposing anti family policy by ensuring the rowhomes are often max. 2 stories homes.
