The lion is believed to have preyed on a baby hippo, triggering a fierce retaliatory attack from the mother. Despite the resilience lions are known for, the injuries sustained were severe and ultimately fatal. This incident is a powerful reminder of the realities of life in the wild. Survival in nature is never guaranteed—every hunt carries risk, and even the most dominant predators can become vulnerable in an instant. Encounters between powerful species such as lions and hippos are often intense and unpredictable, reflecting the delicate balance that governs our ecosystems. As we reflect on this loss, we are reminded that wildlife faces constant challenges—from territorial battles and dangerous prey to environmental pressures. Hear me out. Kenya's obsession with tenderpreneurship has done a lot of harm. Most govt functions are outsourced and so you cannot have such immediate response. If govt employed more engineers in the ministry and required them to undertake such constructions instead of tendering them out, we'd start solving the huge unemployment rate while reducing turnaround time for such ad hoc projects. Oh yes, and definitely cost of construction would go down.

Before Dec 2025, patients from Turkana walikua wanakua referred MTRH for CT scan, some 300KMS drive. Atleast walipata CT scan machine. Those people were suffering.

SUSPECT ARRESTED, STOLEN PRODUCE RECOVERED IN MURANG’A COUNTY Police officers in Ithanga/Kakuzi Sub-County have arrested a suspect and recovered stolen pineapples during a patrol. The officers, drawn from the CIPU and working in collaboration with private security, intercepted and arrested the suspect within Field 12 at Del Monte Farm. A total of 103 fresh pineapples, believed to have been stolen from the farm, were recovered. Upon arrest, the suspect was placed in police custody pending arraignment in court. The National Police Service continues to urge members of the public to support efforts aimed at combating crime by sharing information via the toll-free numbers 999 and 911, or anonymously through #FichuaKwaDCI on 0800 722 203 / WhatsApp 0709 570 000.
